Saudi Arabia’s boxing spending is visible through Riyadh Season sponsorship and promotion, and through a partnership involving Turki Alalshikh, Public Investment Fund-owned Sela, and TKO Group. Public announcements and filings identify the organizations and their roles, but do not disclose a total Saudi boxing budget, complete event costs, or the partnership’s investment amount. They also do not establish that Alalshikh personally funds the events.
Where Saudi-linked boxing money and business activity appear
| Channel | Named participants and role | What the sources disclose |
|---|---|---|
| Riyadh Season sponsorship | Riyadh Season sponsors boxing activity; the WBC announced a sponsorship package for 2024–2025. | The sponsorship’s monetary value and the division of costs or revenues among public budgets, sponsors, ticketing, media, and other sources are not stated in the WBC announcement or the cited ESPN coverage. |
| Promotion partnership | Alalshikh, Sela, and TKO agreed to a multiyear partnership to establish a boxing promotion. Sela is identified as a Public Investment Fund company; TKO has day-to-day management, oversight, production, media, and promotional responsibilities. | The investment amount, ownership split, and contractual spending commitments are not stated in the Sela announcement or the Associated Press report. |
| Alalshikh’s public roles | Saudi state reporting identifies Alalshikh as chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) and president of the Saudi Boxing Federation. | These are institutional roles, not evidence that he personally owns the public funds or pays event bills from personal wealth. See Saudi Press Agency reporting. |
What Riyadh Season’s role means
ESPN describes Riyadh Season as an annual state-managed sports and entertainment festival. Its sponsorship of boxing is one identifiable route for Saudi-linked support, but the public materials cited here do not show how much the sponsorship is worth or provide an audited account of what a particular event cost. A sponsorship announcement establishes the relationship, not the full funding mix behind an event.
In an ESPN interview published May 6, 2024, Alalshikh described the rationale this way: “We are spending the money to [commercialize] our season and at the same time to test the market and know all the secrets about the market.” This is his explanation of the strategy, not a financial statement or accounting of expenditures.
How the Sela–TKO partnership fits in
On March 5, 2025, Sela announced a multiyear partnership among itself, Alalshikh, and TKO to establish a boxing promotion. Sela described itself as a Public Investment Fund (PIF) company. The arrangement assigns TKO operating responsibilities, including day-to-day management, oversight, production, media, and promotion. The announcement and AP’s reporting do not state the venture’s capital contribution, ownership percentages, or who is contractually committed to cover particular event costs.

- EFFECTIVE IMPACT DISPERSION – Are your training gloves affecting your accuracy? The RDX gloves dissipate the force of impact across the specially made, pre-curved anatomical structure of the sparring gloves due to the presence of Quadro Dome 3 padding, which uses EVA foam and SpongeX sheet. This results in a comfortable training experience for the users of the RDX heavy boxing gloves.
- PATENT PENDING LOMA TECH DESIGN – Do you face trouble forming the perfect fist, while using boxing gloves ? RDX gloves feature a PATENT PENDING single seamless LOMA Tech design used in the palm area and thumb of the boxing gloves. This helps create an improved alignment between the fist and thumb and along with an especially designed attached thumb allows the trainees to form the perfect fist and punch better with the training gloves.
- EXCEPTIONALLY DURABLE MATERIAL – No matter how hard you punch these gloves make sure to outlast your intense training. The use of advanced caliber Maya Hide ConvEX Skin Leather in the KARA Series training gloves makes them durable and reliable for long-term use while also providing a superior look and feel during Boxing, Muay Thai, MMA, Kickboxing, and heavy bag training sessions among other similar sports.
- FULL WRAPAROUND WRIST SUPPORT – A hassle-free design with sufficient support for your wrists. The hook and loop Fastener straps provide a secure fit and make it easy to put on or take off the kickboxing gloves for men and women along with providing better wrist support due to the full wraparound wrist strap, while the dual stitching in the heavy bag gloves makes them durable and resilient for extensive training sessions.
- SWEAT-FREE EXPERIENCE – Bid farewell to those sweaty palms and hands. With multiple ventilation holes strategically placed in the thumb sections of the lightweight boxing gloves, RDX ensures proper airflow management so that its customers get a sweat-free experience. Furthermore, the advanced perforated sheet for breathable ventilation in the palm area is sweat-wicking and minimizes sweat accumulation.
In a filing for the quarter ended March 31, 2026, TKO described its boxing activity as including its joint venture with Sela for the Zuffa Boxing brand and promotional services TKO provides for boxing events. The cited filing passages do not break out the venture’s finances separately. That disclosure clarifies how TKO reports the activity; it does not reveal a boxing budget.
What the public figures do—and do not—show
The cited sources do not publish a named aggregate for Saudi boxing expenditure, total boxing purses, or the budget of the Sela–TKO venture. Figures for Saudi-hosted events in other sports cannot fill that gap.

TKO’s filing provides examples of Saudi event economics outside boxing. WWE revenue in the first quarter of 2026 increased by $47.2 million, with TKO attributing the increase primarily to the financial incentive package for Royal Rumble in Riyadh and other factors. The filing also reports a $10.1 million decline in UFC live-event revenue, driven primarily by lower financial incentive packages associated with a Saudi Fight Night event in the prior year, offset by higher ticket sales. These are company-reported figures for WWE and UFC, respectively—not boxing expenditures, purses, or estimates of boxing’s share of Saudi spending. See TKO’s SEC filings.

TKO’s March 2025 announcement says Alalshikh purchased The Ring in November 2024. That is a relevant business and publishing connection in boxing, but the cited material does not establish that the purchase financed boxing events.

- Identify Sela as a PIF company and TKO as the operator assigned key management and production responsibilities in the promotion partnership.
- Distinguish disclosed arrangements from undisclosed amounts: the cited sources do not give a comprehensive boxing budget, purse total, or the venture’s financial terms.
- Do not use incentive figures from WWE or UFC as proxies for boxing costs.
