At a participating online merchant, choose Amazon Pay, sign in to the Amazon account that has your eligible card, select Shop with Points, choose how many points to apply, and review the final order summary before submitting payment.
The option depends on your card, the merchant and the cart. Amazon’s Visa-family and Store Card programs also have different redemption rules, including how points are valued, how partial payments work and whether the purchase earns new rewards. Confirm those details on the actual checkout screen before you pay.

What Amazon Shop with Points is—and what it is not
Shop with Points lets an eligible Amazon Visa, Prime Visa, Amazon Store Card or Prime Store Card cardholder apply existing rewards during an Amazon Pay checkout. Amazon describes the feature as available at participating merchants for eligible products and orders. You must actively select the rewards option; points do not automatically pay every purchase made through Amazon Pay.
The checkout is tied to the Amazon account where your eligible card is stored. Amazon says Visa cardmembers are automatically enrolled when an eligible card is added to the Amazon account. That enrollment does not guarantee that the option will appear on every order: merchant participation, card availability and cart eligibility still control what you see.

Amazon’s official Visa page says, “Shop with Points allows you to redeem your Amazon Visa or Prime Visa rewards points for purchases with Amazon Pay.” The feature is described on Amazon Pay’s Shop with Points Amazon Visa, Shop with Points Amazon Store Card and Alternative Payment Methods for Business pages.
How to redeem Amazon Visa or Prime Visa rewards
Use this path when the eligible card in your Amazon wallet is an Amazon Visa or Prime Visa and the merchant offers Amazon Pay.
- Start at a participating online merchant. Add an eligible product or order and select Amazon Pay as the payment method. The Shop with Points option is limited to participating merchants and eligible carts.
- Sign in to the right Amazon account. Use the account connected to your eligible Amazon Visa or Prime Visa. If more than one card is saved, verify that the intended card is selected rather than relying on the default.
- Select the eligible Visa card. In the Amazon Pay wallet, choose the Amazon Visa or Prime Visa whose rewards you want to use.
- Choose rewards as the payment method. Amazon’s Visa flow lets you select that card’s available rewards and then specify the amount of points to apply to the order.
- Check the remainder. Any amount not covered by points is charged to the associated Amazon Visa or Prime Visa. Amazon says points cannot be combined with another payment method, other than the linked eligible Visa card for this remainder.
- Review and place the order. Inspect the order total, shipping, taxes, points applied and card charge before confirming. Additional amounts applied after checkout may be charged to the linked card.
The cited Visa materials describe the available rewards balance but do not state a universal dollar conversion for every Visa reward point. Do not assume a value beyond what the checkout displays or what your card’s current terms provide.

- Choose Amazon Pay at a participating online merchant and continue to the Amazon Pay sign-in screen.
- Sign in to the Amazon account that contains the Store Card or Prime Store Card.
- Select the Store Card in your Amazon wallet. If another payment method is shown, change it before proceeding.
- Select the card’s rewards. Amazon states that one Store Card reward point equals one dollar for this redemption flow.
- Enter the amount of points. The Store Card page permits a partial redemption from 0.01 points through your full available balance.
- Pay any remainder with the Store Card or Prime Store Card. If the points do not cover the entire eligible amount, the remaining balance is charged to the associated card.
- Review the complete checkout summary and place the order only after checking which amounts are covered by points and which go to the card.
The one-point-to-one-dollar statement applies to the Store Card page’s described redemption. It should not be applied automatically to Amazon Visa or Prime Visa rewards, whose cited page does not provide the same universal conversion.

What to check before you click “Place order”
1. The account and card are correct
Confirm that you are signed in to the Amazon account connected to the intended card. Open the payment-method area and verify the last four digits or card name. If the eligible card is not in the wallet, Shop with Points may not be offered.
2. The merchant and cart qualify
Amazon Pay acceptance and Shop with Points eligibility are separate questions. A merchant can accept Amazon Pay without every card or cart qualifying for points redemption. Look specifically for the Shop with Points choice in the checkout payment-method area. If it is absent, do not assume that entering points manually will work.
3. The points amount is the amount you intend to spend
Check the rewards balance and the exact points deduction. For Store Card rewards, Amazon permits any amount from 0.01 points to the full balance. For Visa rewards, choose the amount offered for that card and verify the resulting card charge. A points selection is not the same as selecting the entire order total.

4. The linked card can cover the remainder
Any uncovered eligible amount is charged to the associated Amazon card. Visa rewards cannot be combined with a different payment card, except for the linked Visa card’s remainder. Make sure that card is open, has available credit and is still the card attached to the Amazon account.
5. Shipping and tax treatment is clear
Read the final summary rather than assuming points cover every line item. Amazon’s Store Card guidance says shipping and taxes applied after Amazon Pay checkout cannot be paid with points. The Visa guidance similarly warns that additional shipping or tax amounts may be charged to the linked card. The amount displayed before authorization can therefore differ from the amount ultimately charged to the card.
6. You understand whether the purchase earns rewards
Redeeming existing points does not guarantee new rewards on the same transaction. Amazon specifically excludes Amazon Pay purchases made with the Amazon Store Card or Prime Store Card from earning rewards. The cited Visa page does not establish a universal earning rule, so consult the terms for your particular Visa product instead of assuming that redemption earns points.

7. You are not relying on multiple rewards programs
Amazon says rewards from multiple programs cannot currently be combined in Shop with Points. Chase Ultimate Rewards are not available in this Amazon Pay Shop with Points flow. If you have balances in more than one program, choose the single eligible program shown at checkout.

Why Shop with Points may not appear
An absent option usually reflects eligibility rather than a missing button. Check these conditions in order:
- Merchant participation: The store must offer Amazon Pay and participate in the relevant Shop with Points program.
- Eligible product or cart: The order must satisfy the merchant and card program’s eligibility rules.
- Correct card family: A rewards balance in an unsupported card or program will not activate the option.
- Correct Amazon account: The eligible card must be saved to the account used for Amazon Pay.
- Current card status: A replaced, closed or otherwise unavailable card may no longer qualify.
- Checkout timing: Eligibility can be evaluated at checkout, so changing products, quantities, shipping destinations or payment details can change what appears.
If Shop with Points is missing after these checks, complete the order with another available payment method or contact the card issuer or merchant. Do not treat the absence of the option as evidence that your points balance has disappeared.
Can you combine points, cards or other rewards?
Amazon’s current Shop with Points guidance says rewards from multiple programs cannot be combined. That means you should not expect to apply Amazon Visa rewards and Store Card rewards to one order, or add another rewards program to either balance.

For Amazon Visa and Prime Visa, Amazon allows the linked card to pay the remainder after points are applied, but not a separate payment card. For Store Card redemptions, the associated Store Card or Prime Store Card pays the remaining amount. The checkout screen is the controlling indication of what the order will accept.

Does redeeming points always provide the best value?
The official pages explain how redemption works, not whether spending points at checkout beats cash back, transfers, statement credits or another option available under your card’s terms. The Store Card page gives a one-point-to-one-dollar redemption for this flow; the cited Visa page does not publish a universal conversion in the described instructions. Because reward values and alternatives vary by card, compare the terms for your specific account before redeeming a large balance.
A practical approach is to use Shop with Points when the checkout value and convenience match your goal, while preserving flexibility when another redemption option may offer a different value. Amazon’s instructions do not establish a single best choice for every cardholder.
