Un hombre de 57 años tiró por error una caja de hojalata con 20 lingotes de oro en Torre Lapillo, en el sur de Italia. Al día siguiente avisó a los Carabinieri de Porto Cesareo; las cámaras ayudaron a seguir el recorrido de los residuos hasta un vertedero en Ugento, donde encontraron la caja y recuperaron todos los lingotes.
Cómo acabaron los lingotes en la basura
El incidente ocurrió en Torre Lapillo, localidad del municipio de Porto Cesareo, en Salento. Según Corriere del Mezzogiorno y Telenorba, el propietario había reunido los lingotes mediante compras realizadas a lo largo de varios años. Telenorba informó que eran de distintos pesos y que se habían comprado con factura.
El hombre tiró residuos en un cesto público sin advertir que entre ellos estaba la caja de hojalata que guardaba el oro. Se dio cuenta de la pérdida al día siguiente y acudió a la estación de los Carabinieri de Porto Cesareo.
La búsqueda llegó hasta el vertedero de Ugento
Los Carabinieri comprobaron su relato revisando imágenes de cámaras de vigilancia de la zona, según las crónicas de Corriere y Telenorba. Las imágenes permitieron reconstruir el recorrido de los residuos hasta el vertedero de Ugento. Allí, los investigadores buscaron entre la basura con la colaboración del personal de la instalación, según informó la Repubblica. La búsqueda duró varias horas, de acuerdo con ese medio.

Cuánto valía el oro, según los medios
Las estimaciones publicadas no coinciden y no deben confundirse con una tasación independiente: Corriere del Mezzogiorno y Telenorba situaron el valor total en 120.000 euros, mientras que la Repubblica calculó aproximadamente 130.000 euros. Los informes no detallan el peso total, la pureza ni las marcas de los lingotes, datos que permitirían evaluar esas cifras con más precisión.
