What the $199 offer actually covered
On May 20, 2024, Hims & Hers announced that compounded GLP-1 injections would start at $199 per month. The same announcement listed oral medication kits starting at $79 per month. These were advertised starting prices for the offerings described at that time, not prices for branded Wegovy and not evidence of what Hims & Hers charges today. Hims & Hers’ May 20, 2024 announcement said the injection price included unlimited medical consultations with a licensed provider, but that historical term should not be assumed to apply to later plans.
The company said prescriptions depended on what a provider determined was medically appropriate and necessary. Its 2024 release also said oral kits and compounded injections were unavailable in some states. Those details describe the 2024 offer; they do not establish current availability, eligibility, or membership terms.
How the offering changed by March 2026
In March 2026, Hims & Hers announced that it would no longer advertise compounded GLP-1 offerings on its platform or in its marketing. It said existing patients would have the opportunity to transition to FDA-approved medicines when providers considered that clinically appropriate. The company also described a limited exception for compounded access when a provider determined it was clinically necessary. Hims & Hers’ strategic-shift announcement described a planned assortment that included Ozempic injections and Wegovy tablets and injections.

On March 26, 2026, the company said eligible customers could access a broad assortment of Novo Nordisk’s FDA-approved GLP-1 treatments based on an independent provider’s clinical decision. It listed Wegovy injection doses of 0.25, 0.5, 1, 1.7, and 2.4 mg, and pill doses of 1.5, 4, 9, and 25 mg. Its announcement described a 7.2 mg injection as coming soon at that time; that statement is not confirmation of present availability. The March 26 announcement said membership was required and billed separately, and that access depended on an independent provider’s decision. Verify current offerings and terms directly before relying on them.
Medication price is not necessarily total program cost
Do not treat a displayed medication price as the total cost of care. Hims & Hers’ March 2026 announcement said membership was required and billed separately. A dynamic company homepage snapshot observed in 2026 also stated that an active weight-loss membership was required and did not guarantee a prescription; because such pages and prices can change, those snapshot figures should not be treated as a current quote. The branded-medication arrangement was also distinct from the earlier compounded offer in product status and provider process. Novo Nordisk said its agreement with Hims & Hers would provide specified Ozempic and Wegovy products at the same self-pay prices as on other telehealth platforms. Novo said Hims & Hers would stop advertising compounded GLP-1 offerings. It also said it had dismissed its patent-infringement lawsuit against Hims & Hers while reserving the right to refile; Hims & Hers described the dismissal as without prejudice. Wegovy and Ozempic are not interchangeable by indication
Both medicines contain semaglutide, but their labeled uses differ. Novo Nordisk describes Wegovy as a treatment for weight management in indicated patients; it also has a cardiovascular risk-reduction indication for certain adults with overweight or obesity and established cardiovascular disease. Ozempic is approved for specified adults with type 2 diabetes, with blood-glucose and cardiovascular-risk indications in the labeled population. Calling Ozempic simply another weight-loss product blurs those distinctions. What the Wegovy-pill study results do—and do not—show
Novo Nordisk’s March 2026 announcement reported OASIS 4, a 64-week phase 3 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial involving 307 adults with obesity, or overweight with a weight-related comorbidity; participants with diabetes were excluded. With oral semaglutide 25 mg, average weight loss was 16.6%, compared with 2.7% for placebo, under the trial-product estimand, which assumes participants remained on treatment and followed a reduced-calorie diet and exercise. Under the treatment-policy estimand—which estimates effects regardless of whether participants stayed on treatment or used other weight-loss therapies—the figures were 13.6% and 2.4%. These are trial averages under specified assumptions, not a forecast or guarantee for an individual. Novo Nordisk’s announcement provides the study context.
The same announcement reported nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting among common adverse reactions in Wegovy pill studies and described a rodent thyroid-tumor warning, noting that whether the effect occurs in people is unknown. That is not a complete safety summary. Anyone considering treatment should review the current FDA-approved prescribing information with a clinician, including contraindications and warnings.
