Carlo Ancelotti is the highest-paid national-team manager in the latest ranking available for 2026, with a reported annual salary of €10 million. The ranking, published October 2 and attributed to German newspaper BILD, supports a top ten—not a verified top thirteen. The amounts are media-reported estimates, not audited contract disclosures.
2026 highest-paid national-team managers: the verified top ten
The table reflects the current national-team-manager list reported on October 2, 2026, rather than a ranking limited to coaches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The figures are reported annual salary estimates attributed to BILD by contemporary coverage. They do not establish standardized gross or net pay, and may exclude bonuses and commercial agreements.
| Rank | Manager | National team | Reported annual salary |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Carlo Ancelotti | Brazil | €10 million |
| 2 | Jürgen Klopp | Germany | €7 million |
| 3 | Mauricio Pochettino | United States | €6.8 million |
| 4 | Thomas Tuchel | England | €6 million |
| 5 | Luis de la Fuente | Spain | €5 million |
| 6 | Jorge Jesus | Portugal | €4 million |
| 7 | Zinedine Zidane | France | €3.6 million |
| 8 | Xavi Hernández | Netherlands | €3 million |
| 9 | Lionel Scaloni | Argentina | Not stated in the accessible October ranking excerpts |
| 10 | Ralf Rangnick | Austria | Not stated in the accessible October ranking excerpts |
Mundo Deportivo and Goal report the same order and amounts through Xavi, then place Scaloni and Rangnick ninth and tenth without giving their salaries in the accessible excerpts: Mundo Deportivo and Goal.
Why this is a top ten, not a top thirteen
The October coverage does not establish a complete ranked list through 13. UOL names Greece manager Ivan Jovanovic and Serbia manager Veljko Paunovic below its top ten, but reports their annual pay in Brazilian reais; Blueprint gives different amounts in euros. Those conflicting currency presentations do not settle their ranking or provide a reliable basis for filling positions 11–13. See UOL and Blueprint.

How to read the reported salaries
These numbers are estimates attributed to BILD, relayed by news outlets. The available reporting does not provide published contracts or federation disclosures that independently verify the amounts. Blueprint cautions that bonuses, commercial agreements, and other contractual benefits may not be included. Because the reporting does not establish consistent treatment of gross versus net pay or total compensation, the figures are best read as reported salary estimates, not fully comparable earnings.

A separate June 11, 2026 report covered 24 managers leading teams at the 2026 tournament and cited a Finance Football study. That tournament-specific snapshot listed Ancelotti at €10 million, Julian Nagelsmann at €7 million, Pochettino at €6 million, Tuchel at €5.8 million, and Fabio Cannavaro and Roberto Martinez at €4 million each. It is not the same cohort or reporting date as the October current-manager ranking: the later list names Klopp for Germany and Jorge Jesus for Portugal. Kursiv also reported that Uzbekistan’s football association disputed reports of Cannavaro’s €4 million salary. Read the tournament figures in their own context at Kursiv and Finance Football.
