Current iSeeCars estimates put five-year Tesla Model 3 depreciation at about 54%. One iSeeCars page estimates 53.6% depreciation and a $17,153 residual value; its separate 2026 study estimates 54.6% depreciation and a $20,213 average difference between MSRP and used price. These are population-level estimates calculated in different ways—not guaranteed sale prices for an individual car.
What the five-year estimates say
iSeeCars’ Tesla Model 3 depreciation page, accessed October 8, 2026, estimates that a Model 3 loses 53.6% of its value after five years. It lists $19,837 in depreciation and a $17,153 residual value. The same page estimates depreciation of 43.2% at three years, 64.3% at seven years, and 74.3% at ten years.
A separate iSeeCars 2026 study puts five-year Model 3 depreciation at 54.6%, with an average $20,213 difference between MSRP and used price. The study analyzed more than 950,000 five-year-old used cars sold from March 2025 through February 2026.
The two dollar figures describe different calculations: the model page reports a residual value and depreciation amount, while the study reports an average MSRP-to-used-price difference. Do not combine the residual value from one with the percentage from the other or treat either dollar amount as a quote for a particular Model 3.

Why the estimates are not identical
The Model 3 page describes an analysis of more than 15 million vehicles and estimates depreciation from new and used prices while accounting for automaker and vehicle segment. The 2026 study uses its specified used-car sales period, inflation-adjusted MSRPs expressed in 2026 dollars, and a mathematical model of the MSRP-to-used-price difference. The figures are related estimates, but they are not interchangeable measurements of the same cars under identical methods.

Comparisons are useful only within the relevant iSeeCars publication, because the pages use different methods and category groupings.

Within the 2026 iSeeCars study
The study estimates five-year depreciation of 54.6% for the Model 3, compared with 57.2% for electric vehicles overall and 41.8% for all vehicles. The Model 3 estimate is below the EV average but above the all-vehicle average in that study.
Within the Model 3 depreciation page
The model page reports 53.6% depreciation for the Model 3, 53.8% for its luxury electric compact category, 40.0% for sedans, and 41.7% for all cars. These are comparisons from that page, not figures to mix with the 2026 study’s categories.

How to read the Kelley Blue Book resale award
Kelley Blue Book named the Model 3 the 2026 Electric Car Best Resale Value category winner in its 2026 Best Resale Value Awards, published March 19, 2026. The award is based on projected residual values for 2026 model-year vehicles in KBB’s January/February 2026 Residual Value Guide. KBB says its projections assume average-condition vehicles with 75,000 miles after five years.
That award is a forward-looking projection for new 2026 model-year vehicles, not a measured price for every five-year-old Model 3. KBB also projected that an average 2026 model-year vehicle would retain 45% of its value after five years; that is an all-vehicle projection, not a Model 3-specific figure.

What a specific five-year-old Model 3 might be worth
A national depreciation estimate cannot account for every car’s condition, mileage, trim, equipment, location, or current local demand. For an individualized range, use a valuation tool that incorporates vehicle details and geography: KBB describes its Price Advisor as a localized vehicle-price range tool, and iSeeCars offers a Price My Car resource.
