The strongest values were not always the products with the biggest advertised percentage discount. A credible deal also depended on the exact model, specifications, seller, warranty, financing terms and whether the saving was cash, a gift card, a Shop Card or a carrier credit.

These figures were reported in Canadian coverage, particularly by MobileSyrup and Global News. MobileSyrup’s original roundup is no longer reliably available at its original URL, so its prices should be read as reported November 22 snapshots rather than live or independently rechecked offers.
How to identify a genuinely good Black Friday deal
A large “save” label is not enough. The most useful comparison starts with the exact model number and then checks:

- Recent pricing: Compare with prices the product actually sold for, not only the manufacturer’s suggested retail price.

- Return and warranty terms: These can differ substantially for marketplace sellers and oversized televisions.
- Future relevance: An older product can be a good bargain, but its remaining software support or upgrade path may be shorter.
This approach avoids treating a discounted entry-level laptop, an OLED television and a premium QLED television as interchangeable simply because each has a large percentage reduction.
Best phone deals
Best overall Android value: Google Pixel 9
The Pixel 9 was reported at $849, down from $1,099. That was one of the clearer flagship-phone discounts in the Canadian coverage. It was a strong fit for buyers who wanted a current premium Android phone without paying the full launch price.
Before buying, check the storage configuration, whether the unit is unlocked and whether the listed comparison price is the retailer’s regular price or an MSRP. Pixel software-support duration and the phone’s camera strengths may make it preferable to an older discounted flagship, but the lowest price alone does not settle that comparison.
Best premium Android: Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
The Galaxy S24 Ultra was reported at $1,499.99, down from $1,799.99. It was the premium choice for buyers prioritizing a large display, advanced cameras, stylus support and high-end performance.

- Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold: $2,099, from $2,399.
- Motorola Razr+ 2024: $1,099.99, from $1,299.99.
- Motorola Edge+ 2023: $549.99, from $1,099; a substantial-looking reduction, but an older model requires closer scrutiny of support and remaining useful life.
Carrier and Costco offers require a different calculation
Carrier promotions should not be compared with unlocked prices by looking only at the monthly payment. Calculate the total of every device payment, required plan, activation charge, taxes and any balloon or return obligation over the full term. Then subtract only credits that are certain and usable.

Costco’s 2024 mobile promotion illustrates the issue. An iPhone 15 was reported at $30 per month after credits plus a $200 Costco Shop Card, with a reported full cost of $1,027 through Rogers. Similar Pixel and Samsung offers involved monthly credits, Shop Cards and return options. The promotion was reported as running November 15 through December 2. A Shop Card or gift card is not cash at checkout. It has value only if the buyer can use it, and a carrier credit may disappear if the customer changes plans or cancels early.
Best TV deals
Best for movie picture quality: LG 65-inch OLED
The LG 65-inch OLED was reported at $1,999.99, down from $2,399.99. OLED panels can provide exceptionally deep blacks and strong contrast, making them especially compelling for cinema and dark-room viewing.
OLED is not automatically the best choice for every room. Buyers should consider brightness, reflections, static-image use and gaming features. Confirm the exact model, HDMI 2.1 ports, variable refresh rate, automatic low-latency mode and genuine 4K/120Hz support if the TV will be paired with a PS5, Xbox Series X or gaming PC.
Best large-screen value: TCL 75-inch QM7 QLED
The TCL 75-inch QM7 QLED was reported at $1,399.99, down from $1,999.99. It offered a larger screen for less than premium OLED alternatives and was a sensible value-oriented choice for sports, streaming and general living-room use.
Global News also highlighted an 85-inch TCL QLED at a reported 32% discount. An 85-inch television needs more than a wall or stand: measure the room, doorways and vehicle or delivery route, and arrange help for installation. Delivery, mounting and return logistics can materially change the real cost.

- Samsung The Frame 43-inch: $999.99, from $1,399.99. Best for buyers who value the design and art-display concept; it was not necessarily the best picture-per-dollar choice.

QLED, Mini-LED, OLED and conventional LED describe different display approaches. A listing that says only “4K TV” omits too much information to establish picture quality. Check native refresh rate rather than an enhanced marketing number, local dimming, brightness, HDR support, HDMI 2.1 and gaming compatibility.
Best laptop deals
Best basic budget laptop
The Acer Aspire 1 was reported at $299.99, down from $399.99, while an HP 15.6-inch laptop was listed at $399.99 in Global News’ roundup. These prices suited basic browsing, documents, email and streaming—not demanding editing, gaming or heavy multitasking.
Low-priced laptops may use slower processors, 8GB of RAM, dimmer displays, smaller SSDs, soldered memory or limited upgrade paths. At this price, inspect the exact CPU, RAM and storage before assuming the machine is suitable for school or work over several years.
Best student and office upgrade
The Acer Aspire 5 was reported at $599.99, down from $999.99. The Samsung Galaxy Book4 was reported at $699.99, down from $999.99, and an Asus VivoBook M515 was reported at $349.99, down from $689.99, in Best Buy coverage.

Best compact gaming and creator laptop
The 2024 Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 was reported at $1,799.99, down from $2,199. Its appeal was the combination of portability and gaming-capable hardware, but the exact processor, GPU, screen, RAM and SSD configuration determine whether the price was compelling.

Other reported gaming-laptop prices included:
- Asus ROG Strix G18: $2,799, from $3,099.
- Acer Predator Helios 300: $1,199.99, from $2,399.99.
- Acer Predator Triton Neo 16: $2,599.99, from $2,799.99.
Gaming performance depends heavily on the GPU, cooling system and power limit—not just the processor name. A discounted gaming laptop with a weaker GPU may provide worse value than a smaller discount on a better-configured system. No laptop price guarantees a particular useful lifespan; workload, battery wear, thermals and software requirements all matter.
Apple’s Black Friday promotion
Apple Canada’s direct 2024 shopping event generally used promotional Apple Gift Cards instead of straightforward device-price reductions. Reported maximum bonuses included:
- MacBook Air with M2 or M3: up to $280.
- iPad Pro, iPad Air or 10th-generation iPad: up to $140.
- iPhone 14, iPhone 15 or iPhone SE: $105.
- Apple Watch SE: $70.
- AirPods Max, AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 2: up to $105.
- Apple TV and HomePod: up to $70.
- Beats products: up to $70.
- Selected accessories: $35.
A $280 Gift Card is not the same as $280 off the MacBook’s checkout price. It was most valuable to someone already planning another Apple purchase and less useful to someone seeking the lowest immediate cash price. Retailers and carriers could offer a lower effective price without using a gift card. The historical promotion page was Apple’s Canadian shopping-event page.

These categories are not directly interchangeable. True wireless earbuds prioritize portability; over-ear ANC headphones generally provide a different comfort, battery and noise-isolation experience. A $899.99 soundbar should be assessed alongside room size, subwoofer performance and the cost of optional rear speakers. A Fitbit Charge 6 is a fitness tracker, not a full smartwatch.

Check whether the seller is the retailer itself or a marketplace business, and verify warranty and return support before buying.

Console picks
- PlayStation 5 Slim Fortnite Cobalt Star bundle: $549.99, reported as $100 off at Best Buy.
- PlayStation 5 Disc Edition: $549.96, from $649.99 on Amazon.
- Xbox Series S 512GB: $319.95, from $379.99.
Check whether a PS5 bundle contains the disc or digital console and whether the game or cosmetic content has permanent value to you. The Xbox Series S has a lower entry price but limited storage, and modern game downloads can quickly consume it.
Handheld PC gaming
- ASUS ROG Ally: $599.98, from $899.96.
- MSI Claw: from $598.99 at Costco.
Handheld PCs are not simply portable consoles. Windows configuration, battery life, thermals, fan noise, game compatibility and controller support require more tolerance for troubleshooting. A console bundle may be the better value for a buyer who wants a straightforward living-room experience.

Amazon’s 2024 promotion also covered Amazon devices, Kindle, Garmin, Logitech, iRobot, Dyson, Shark and Ninja products. Walmart’s coverage included Beats headphones, LG televisions, Asus laptops, Samsung Galaxy Watch 7, Canon cameras and the ROG Ally. Those category references do not establish current prices or stock.
When it was better to wait
A buyer had reason to wait or compare further when the discount was small, the product was near replacement, the carrier plan cost more than their existing plan, the TV lacked required gaming features, the laptop had 8GB of non-upgradeable RAM, or the listing came from an unfamiliar marketplace seller.
Waiting also made sense when the buyer could not use the gift card or Shop Card, when a recipient would not have enough time to test the product before the return deadline, or when a cheaper model delivered the same practical experience.
Bottom line
The standout reported Canadian deals were the Pixel 9 at $849, Galaxy S24 Ultra at $1,499.99, LG 65-inch OLED at $1,999.99, TCL 75-inch QM7 at $1,399.99, ROG Zephyrus G14 at $1,799.99, Sony WH-1000XM4 at $279.99 and the PS5 Slim bundle at $549.99. Apple’s Gift Card promotion was useful mainly for shoppers already planning another Apple purchase.
These are archived Black Friday 2024 prices. They should not be presented as available today, and they should not be used without checking the exact model, seller, warranty, financing conditions and current replacement products.
