It debuted at Kate Spade’s Ginza flagship in Tokyo on November 30, 2024, went on sale through the Japanese official site on January 7, 2025, and was later slated for the brand’s global outlet site and selected outlet stores. Sanrio’s current collection page still lists some collaboration items, but availability and prices can change.
When did the Hello Kitty x Kate Spade collection come out?
Sanrio announced the limited capsule on November 20, 2024, in connection with Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary and the reopening of Kate Spade New York’s Ginza flagship. The first in-person release was at that Tokyo store on November 30, 2024. Sales through the Japanese official site began January 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Japan time. Sanrio’s announcement and its January 9, 2025 update document those dates and channels.
The “global” part referred to planned availability in January 2025 through Kate Spade New York’s global official outlet site and selected global outlet stores. The announcements do not establish a new worldwide winter launch. Sanrio’s current US collection page shows some collaboration products, but a live listing does not mean every item is available everywhere or that the collection has relaunched. Check the current Sanrio collection page for displayed listings and confirm stock, price, and shipping eligibility with the retailer.
What was in the collection?
The capsule adapted Hello Kitty imagery to Kate Spade New York’s colorful, playful design style. Sanrio listed crossbody and tote bags, pouches and small leather goods, apparel, jewelry, keychains, footwear, and accessories including phone and laptop cases. The collection was a mix of fashion and small accessories rather than a single bag release.

What did the items cost at launch?
Sanrio’s 2024 Japan announcement gave a tax-inclusive launch-price range of ¥10,340 to ¥77,000. Those are historical Japanese prices, not current prices or a guide to what a buyer will pay now.

Sanrio’s current collection page displays, among other products, a Hello Kitty x Kate Spade Liquid iPhone 16 Pro Max Case and a 3D Strawberry Mini Crossbody Bag. The selection is subject to change.
