HCLTech Q2 FY27 Preview: Will the IT Major Narrow Its Guidance? Five Things to Watch

HCLTech had yet to report Q2 FY27 as of October 12, 2026. Its published FY27 revenue and margin ranges, plus five key indicators, frame the guidance question.

As of October 12, 2026, HCLTech had not yet reported Q2 FY27 results, and the latest quarter listed on its investor-relations results archive was Q1 FY27. Its published FY27 guidance remained 1.0%–4.0% revenue growth for the company and 1.5%–4.5% for Services, both in constant currency, with an EBIT margin range of 17.5%–18.5%. Whether HCLTech narrows or raises those ranges is the central question; broker forecasts are scenarios, not company commitments.

What is HCLTech’s current FY27 guidance?

At the time of this preview, HCLTech’s investor-relations page showed the following FY27 ranges. They are company guidance, not analyst estimates.

Measure Published FY27 range Basis
Company revenue growth 1.0%–4.0% Year over year, constant currency
Services revenue growth 1.5%–4.5% Year over year, constant currency
EBIT margin 17.5%–18.5% Company guidance

A change to one range would not necessarily mean a change to the others. It is also important to distinguish total growth, which can include acquired revenue, from organic constant-currency growth. Any revision should be read with the company’s stated basis and scope.

Five things to watch in the Q2 FY27 update

1. Whether guidance changes—and what the range includes

Analysts had floated different possibilities. Business Standard reported that Kotak Institutional Equities saw a possibility of company revenue guidance rising to 3%–4%, partly reflecting acquisitions. The same preview reported that Jefferies expected Services guidance to narrow by 50 basis points, to 2%–4%. Those are separate analyst views, not a shared forecast or a commitment from HCLTech.

Look for the revised range, if any, and whether management describes it as total or organic growth. Company revenue and Services growth are different measures, so a change in one should not be assumed to apply to the other.

2. Sequential revenue momentum after a soft Q1

HCLTech’s Q1 FY27 constant-currency revenue was down 0.5% quarter over quarter and up 2.6% year over year. These comparisons answer different questions: sequential growth shows movement from the immediately preceding quarter, while year-over-year growth compares with the same quarter a year earlier.

For Q2, compare the reported sequential result with attributed analyst forecasts, and check whether acquisitions contributed. Do not conflate constant-currency growth with growth in reported currency.

3. EBIT margin, restructuring, and acquisition effects

The company’s FY27 EBIT margin guidance was 17.5%–18.5%. Q1 FY27 reported EBIT margin was 16.9%, including a stated 62-basis-point restructuring impact. When Q2 results arrive, keep the reported margin distinct from any adjusted figure and note the adjustment used.

Business Standard’s preview described analyst expectations around the high-17% range and discussions of currency benefits and potential acquisition-related dilution. Those expectations are not actual results. The useful test is whether Q2 margin and management’s outlook support the full-year range, and what factors management identifies as driving the change.

4. Discretionary spending and client ramps

In its earlier FY27 guidance discussion, management said the lower end of the range assumed continued softness in discretionary spending and the ramp-up of two clients. HCLTech’s FY26 results release also cited lower discretionary spend and delayed decision-making. The Q2 update should clarify whether client spending improved and whether the anticipated ramps contributed as expected.

5. Deal wins and AI’s two-sided effect

Q1 FY27 new-deal total contract value (TCV) was $2,407 million. Deal TCV can indicate the scale of contracts signed, but it is not the same as revenue recognized in the quarter; conversion depends on delivery and timing. Watch for the Q2 deal figure alongside commentary on closures and ramp schedules.

AI can generate demand for new services while also putting pressure on pricing or creating deflation in parts of the work. Growth in AI-related revenue alone does not establish that total company growth or margins will rise. The relevant signals are how AI work converts into revenue and how management describes its effect on pricing and profitability.

How to read the forecasts without mixing unlike numbers

Published previews included estimates with different measures and bases. The Economic Times reported brokerage averages of 12% year-over-year profit growth and 16% revenue growth across seven brokerages. Business Standard reported Axis Direct estimates of ₹35,443 crore in revenue, up 11% year over year, and 15.9% profit growth. Business Standard also reported distinct Jefferies and Kotak views on sequential constant-currency growth, margins, deal TCV and guidance.

These are forecasts reported by the respective publications, not company guidance or actual results. The brokerage-average figures and Axis Direct estimates should not be combined: they may use different definitions, periods or comparison bases. When assessing a Q2 headline number, verify whether it is sequential or year over year, constant-currency or reported-currency, company-wide or Services, and revenue or profit.

Prior-year context: Q2 FY26

HCLTech’s Q2 FY26 investor release reported constant-currency revenue growth of 2.4% sequentially and 4.6% year over year. Services growth was 2.5% sequentially and 5.5% year over year. EBIT margin was 17.4%, including a 55-basis-point restructuring impact, and new-deal TCV was $2,569 million. These figures provide a prior-year comparator; they are not Q2 FY27 expectations.

What would answer the guidance question?

The answer requires HCLTech’s Q2 FY27 results and any accompanying outlook revision. Until the company publishes them, its published FY27 ranges remain the reference point, while estimates and possible revisions belong to the named analysts who made them. The most informative update will state clearly how growth is measured, whether acquisitions are included, how Q2 margin compares with the full-year range, and whether demand and client ramps have changed.
