What happened in HCL GET recruitment 2025?
HCL’s recruitment notification, dated 11 August 2025, invited Indian nationals to apply online for 27 Graduate Engineer Trainee appointments through GATE scores. The advertisement number was Estt./1/2026/2025-26. The application window opened on 12 August and ultimately closed on 12 September 2025. The 2 September date in the original notice was superseded by the extension reported on 2 September 2025.
This is a past recruitment cycle, not an open application opportunity. Its vacancies, eligibility rules, fee and employment terms apply to that 2025 notice and should not be assumed to apply to a later HCL recruitment.
How were the 27 vacancies distributed?
The notification allocated the posts by discipline and category as follows. Electrical and Mechanical included backlog vacancies.

What were the eligibility requirements?
The 2025 notice required candidates to meet the relevant degree, GATE, marks and age criteria. Degree requirements differed by discipline, so the full notification is necessary to determine whether a particular qualification matched a post.
GATE score and degree
- A valid GATE score from 2023, 2024 or 2025 was required, and the GATE discipline had to match the qualifying degree discipline.
- Scores from before 2023 were not accepted.
- The qualifying degree had to be from a recognized institution. The notice set a minimum aggregate of 60%, reduced to 55% for SC/ST candidates.
- Final-year students could apply if otherwise eligible and if they had no backlog papers at the end of the course. They had to submit their degree result or marksheet before 30 June 2026.
Age
The maximum age was 28 years as of 1 August 2025. The notice provided age relaxations for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates. Check the notification for the exact discipline-specific qualifications and the applicable relaxation rules; a general summary cannot establish an individual candidate’s eligibility.

How did selection work?
HCL first shortlisted candidates for personal interviews according to merit in valid GATE 2023, 2024 or 2025 scores. The three years were given equal weight, and candidates could submit their strongest eligible score. For the final merit assessment, the notification assigned 70% weight to the GATE score and 30% to the interview. Final merit was based on candidates who were actually interviewed.
What were the pay, training and service conditions?
During one year of training, the notification specified a pay scale of ₹40,000–3%–₹1,40,000, with a starting basic pay of ₹40,000. After successful training, a trainee was to be absorbed as Assistant Manager at E-1, subject to probation and company rules. The notice also required a three-year minimum service period and a ₹3 lakh service-agreement bond. These were terms of this recruitment notice, not a guarantee of current HCL employment terms.

What was the application fee?
The fee was ₹500 for General, OBC and EWS candidates. Other candidates, including PwBD candidates, were exempt under the notification.
