Has SSC CGL 2026 DEST Been Rescheduled? How to Check Your Exam Details

SSC’s October 1, 2026 schedule notice does not confirm a revised CGL DEST date in the available text. Check SSC.gov.in and your admission certificate for your personal details.

SSC listed an “Important Notice – Schedule of Examinations” on October 1, 2026, but the available notice text does not confirm a revised date for the Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGL) Data Entry Speed Test (DEST). Do not assume your DEST date has changed—or rely on an unverified date. Check the latest notice on SSC.gov.in and your own admission certificate for your exam date, city and shift.

Has SSC CGL DEST been rescheduled?

A schedule notice dated October 1, 2026, appears on the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) website. Its CGL-specific schedule details are not available in the notice text reviewed here, so an exact revised DEST date cannot be confirmed. The notice’s existence alone does not establish that your date changed.

SSC’s CGL 2026 examination notice says schedule changes and other examination information will be communicated through the Commission website. Check the latest official notice there, then use your admission certificate to confirm the details that apply to you. The SSC homepage also listed a September 21, 2026 notice about CGL Tier-I exam-city information and admission certificates; that is a separate update and does not establish a DEST date.

Where to check your CGL exam date, city and shift

  1. Open SSC.gov.in and review the latest notices for the CGL 2026 examination. Check the notice date and exam year so you do not confuse this cycle with another.
  2. Read the October 1, 2026 “Important Notice – Schedule of Examinations” and any later CGL notice. Do not infer a DEST date unless the official notice states it.
  3. Check your own admission certificate for your individual exam date, centre and shift. Follow the certificate and current SSC instructions for reporting details.
  4. If you need procedural guidance for the skill test, consult the relevant SSC Regional Office instructions. SSC says its Regional Offices will provide detailed skill-test instructions.

What the June application update did—and did not—change

SSC’s June 23, 2026 notice reopened the CGL online application window from June 23 to June 25, changed the eligibility closing date to June 25, set June 26 as the fee-payment deadline, and moved the correction window to July 1–3. Those were application-related changes, not an announcement that the DEST exam date had been rescheduled.

What candidates need to know about DEST

In the CGL 2026 notice, SSC describes DEST as a 15-minute section of Tier-II Paper-I involving a passage of about 2,000 key depressions. It is mandatory for all posts and qualifying in nature. Some posts have higher qualifying standards: SSC identifies Tax Assistant roles in CBIC and CBDT, and UDC/SSA in the Central Bureau of Narcotics.

Use the 2026 notice and current Regional Office instructions for this cycle’s requirements. The 2025 notice described a similar 15-minute test of approximately 2,000 key depressions, but that prior-cycle description does not replace the current notice.

Why older SSC calendars may show different dates

SSC’s January 2026 tentative calendar placed CGL Tier-I in May–June 2026. The later CGL examination notice instead listed Tier-I tentatively for August–September 2026 and Tier-II for December 2026. For the current cycle, use the later examination notice and any subsequent official update rather than relying on the earlier tentative calendar. These broad schedule windows do not establish an individual DEST date.
