Both winning Saturday Lotto Division 1 tickets sold in Halls Head and Byford had been claimed by 19 December 2024. Lotterywest’s initial 16 December appeal said the winners had yet to come forward, but a follow-up three days later confirmed both claims.
What happened to the Halls Head and Byford winners?
Lotterywest announced on 16 December 2024 that games sold at Halls Head Newsagency and AP Newsagency in Byford had each won a Saturday Lotto Division 1 prize worth $1.05 million. At that point, the operator was urging buyers to check their tickets because the winners had not yet come forward. Lotterywest’s initial announcement quoted spokesperson James Mooney advising people who had bought tickets at either location to “check your ticket, check it twice.”
On 19 December, Lotterywest confirmed both prizes had been claimed. A couple who bought the Byford ticket went to Lotterywest Head Office to claim their $1.05 million prize; the Halls Head ticket was claimed by a man from Mandurah. Lotterywest did not name either winner.
The Byford winner said: “For some reason I checked the numbers on Saturday night, which I never usually do, but something made me check.” That account is a personal anecdote, not a method for improving the odds of winning.

How Saturday Lotto prizes and odds work
Lotterywest describes Saturday Lotto as a draw of eight numbers from 45. The first six are the winning numbers and the remaining two are supplementary numbers. Its game page gives approximate Division 1 odds of 1 in 8,145,060 for one standard game; those are general published odds, not odds calculated for these particular tickets. Lotterywest’s Saturday Lotto page describes the game as chance-based.
How to check results and claim a Lotterywest Division 1 prize
For other draws, results can be checked through Lotterywest’s results page or its app. Under Lotterywest’s current prize guidance, Division 1 prizes must be claimed at its Head Office, are subject to a 14-day validation period, and must be claimed within 12 months of the draw date. Unclaimed prizes are returned to the WA community through grants. See Lotterywest’s prize-claim guidance.
