Halcyon announced a $40 million Series B on December 19, 2023, led by Bain Capital Ventures. The company said it would use the funding to expand engineering, research and development, and sales. Halcyon sells enterprise anti-ransomware software; its description of the platform’s capabilities comes from the company, not an independent performance test.
What Halcyon announced
The Series B followed a $50 million Series A that Halcyon announced on April 20, 2023. After the December round, the company reported raising $90 million during 2023. Those figures and the planned use of proceeds were reported in Halcyon’s Series B announcement and Series A announcement.

Halcyon’s CEO and co-founder, Jon Miller, argued in the Series B announcement that adapting general endpoint products for ransomware leaves organizations without purpose-built tools. That is the company’s rationale for its focus, not independent evidence that its product outperforms other security software.

What the anti-ransomware platform does
Halcyon markets its software to enterprises as a set of layers intended to prevent, detect and respond to ransomware attacks, with capabilities for recovery. In its funding announcement and product materials, the company describes the following functions:
#1 Best Overall
- Prevention and detection: pre-execution prevention and behavior detection intended to identify ransomware activity.
- Endpoint-agent protection: hardening intended to prevent attackers from bypassing or unhooking the security agent.
- Isolation and data protection: autonomous isolation of a host and controls intended to prevent data exfiltration.
- Key capture and recovery: interception or capture of encryption-key material, followed by automated recovery or decryption features.
These are vendor descriptions of the product’s design. Halcyon’s technical datasheet describes the capabilities, but the available evidence does not establish independent efficacy testing, verified recovery times, or independently corroborated customer outcomes. Buyers should assess performance and fit in their own environment rather than treating product descriptions as guaranteed results.
Funding after the 2023 Series B
The $40 million Series B is a historical funding announcement, not Halcyon’s latest reported round. On November 25, 2024, the company announced a $100 million Series C led by Evolution Equity Partners. Halcyon said that brought cumulative funding to $190 million and valued the company at $1 billion at that time. These are company-reported figures from its Series C announcement; the valuation is not a current valuation.
Halcyon’s Series C article also cited more than $1 billion in ransomware payments in 2023 and an average recovery cost of $4.45 million. Those are figures stated by Halcyon, and the underlying publisher for the recovery-cost figure has not been independently established here.

Halcyon’s newsroom lists a July 28, 2026 announcement covering File Resilience, native macOS support, and deeper integrations with Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Sentinel. The listing indicates subsequent product activity, but does not provide enough detail to establish the capabilities, supported configurations, or deployment conditions of those additions. What the funding means for buyers
The financing news indicates that investors backed Halcyon and that the company planned to invest in product development and sales. It does not, by itself, show that the platform prevents attacks or reduces recovery costs. Organizations evaluating ransomware defenses can ask for evidence relevant to their own setup:
- Which operating systems, endpoint products, and infrastructure configurations are supported?
- How do prevention, host isolation, data-exfiltration controls, and recovery interact with existing security tools?
- What happens when key material cannot be captured, and what recovery path remains?
- What independent evaluations, customer references, or controlled demonstrations support the vendor’s claims?
- What deployment, monitoring, and response work is required from the organization or its security provider?
The available announcements and product materials do not establish comparative efficacy, pricing, or an independent ranking against other enterprise security products.
