The G700, by contrast, is listed with more possible cabin living areas—up to five, compared with up to four in the G800. Both are listed for up to 19 seats and use two Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines.
Those range figures are manufacturer-published theoretical estimates, not guaranteed route distances. They assume eight passengers, four crew and NBAA IFR reserves; real-world range depends on routing, speed, weather, outfitting and other factors.
What is the difference between the Gulfstream G700 and G800?
The main published distinction is range versus cabin configuration. Gulfstream gives the G800 a higher theoretical range at both cited cruise speeds, while its G700 specifications list the option of one additional living area. Both aircraft share the same listed maximum operating Mach number, passenger-seat capacity and engine model.
| Published specification | G700 | G800 |
|---|---|---|
| Theoretical NBAA IFR range at Mach 0.85 | 7,750 nautical miles | 8,200 nautical miles |
| Theoretical NBAA IFR range at Mach 0.90 | 6,650 nautical miles | 7,000 nautical miles |
| Maximum operating Mach number | Mach 0.935 | Mach 0.935 |
| Listed cabin living areas | Up to 5 | Up to 4 |
| Seats | Up to 19 | Up to 19 |
| Engines | Two Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 | Two Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 |
Specifications are from Gulfstream’s G700 and G800 pages, accessed in 2026. The listed living-area counts describe configuration options, not additional passenger seats.

How far can a G700 fly?
Gulfstream lists a theoretical NBAA IFR range of 7,750 nautical miles for the G700 at Mach 0.85, and 6,650 nautical miles at the higher cruise speed of Mach 0.90. These are estimates under the manufacturer’s stated assumptions of eight passengers, four crew and NBAA IFR reserves—not a promise that the aircraft will cover that distance on any particular trip.
How far can a G800 fly?
Gulfstream lists the G800 at 8,200 nautical miles at Mach 0.85 and 7,000 nautical miles at Mach 0.90, using the same stated passenger, crew and reserve assumptions. Its figures exceed the G700’s by 450 nautical miles at Mach 0.85 and 350 nautical miles at Mach 0.90; those differences are arithmetic from Gulfstream’s published estimates, not separately measured performance results.
Which Gulfstream has the longer range?
The G800 has the longer published theoretical range at both speeds. The comparison also illustrates why speed matters: for each aircraft, the published Mach 0.90 figure is lower than its Mach 0.85 figure. A higher cruise speed does not mean the aircraft will retain the same range.
Neither figure should be treated as a route guarantee. Gulfstream says actual range is affected by air-traffic-control routing, operating speed, weather and outfitting, among other factors. A route-specific assessment requires operating conditions and aircraft configuration beyond the headline specification. Gulfstream’s fleet overview also presents range as a manufacturer specification rather than a route-by-route operating result.

How should cabin layout factor into the choice?
The G700’s listed allowance of up to five living areas gives it more configuration flexibility on that measure. The G800 is listed with up to four. Both are specified for up to 19 seats, so the living-area difference should not be confused with a difference in maximum stated seating capacity.
Which cabin arrangement is more useful depends on how an owner or operator wants to divide the interior for a particular mission. The published counts alone do not establish the layout of a specific aircraft or the trade-offs of its individual outfitting.
What the published comparison does not establish
These specifications are useful for distinguishing the aircraft’s stated range and cabin options, but they do not settle the financial or operational decision to acquire one. The cited Gulfstream pages do not provide a like-for-like acquisition-price or operating-cost comparison, nor do these headline figures establish performance on a particular route. A buyer evaluating total cost or a planned journey would need current, aircraft- and mission-specific information.
