However, the available review evidence is too thin and inconsistent to justify calling it the best or most reliable option. What is GSTpad?
GSTpad, from DreamaSoft, is marketed as GST billing, accounting, barcode, inventory and point-of-sale software for Indian businesses. It offers offline desktop and cloud editions, plus hardware bundles. The company says it was founded in 2015 and is headquartered in Himachal Pradesh. Its advertised functions include invoices, purchases, stock, barcode printing, customer balances, profit reports, GST returns, e-invoicing, e-way bills, WhatsApp/SMS messaging and online-store features. See the company information and home page.
A listed feature is not proof of dependable operation. Availability can vary by edition, hardware, tax configuration and integration, so test the workflows your business actually uses.

| GSTpad product page | 4.76/5 | 74 ratings/reviews hosted by the vendor |
| Techjockey | 5/5 | Only four reviews, so directional rather than statistically persuasive |
| Trustpilot | One review | Too small a sample to establish overall satisfaction |
| GSTpad hardware bundle listing | 4.60/5 | 25 ratings for a bundle, not software-only use |

Offline versus cloud
Offline edition
The vendor lists a one-time payment, unlimited invoices, users and companies, cloud backup and an optional LAN setup across systems. This can suit shops with unreliable internet or a preference for local operation. Ask whether activation or updates require connectivity, whether simultaneous LAN use is reliable, whether updates and support remain included, and how quickly a failed computer can be restored.
Cloud edition
Cloud plans provide browser access, multiple devices and real-time synchronisation, but impose annual fees and plan limits. Internet, account access and vendor availability become dependencies. The vendor’s FAQ says offline data can be backed up to locations such as Google Drive and that automatic backups may run every 24 hours; this is a vendor statement, not an independent disaster-recovery audit.
Pricing currently shown
The following figures were surfaced from a page crawled about seven months before the research date. They are signals, not a verified 2024 price list or guaranteed September 2026 quote. Confirm tax treatment, renewal prices, support, updates and add-ons in writing.
| Plan | Displayed price | Limits or characteristics shown |
|---|---|---|
| Offline Standard | ₹5,990 one time, tax included | Unlimited invoices, users and companies; cloud backup |
| Offline Premium | ₹7,990 one time, tax included | Higher feature tier; unlimited invoices, users and companies |
| LAN add-on | ₹9,990 | Use offline software across systems |
| Cloud Standard | ₹3,490/year displayed; first-year figure ₹5,990 | Up to 10,000 invoices/year, two users/devices, one company |
| Cloud Premium | ₹4,990/year displayed; first-year figure ₹7,990 | Up to 20,000 invoices/year, three users/devices, one company |
| Cloud Premium+ | ₹8,990/year | Unlimited invoices, five users/devices, one company |
| Extra cloud user/device | ₹1,000/year | Additional user or device |
The home page advertises a 14-day trial and a starting price of ₹2,999, which does not match the detailed plan table. Request the exact edition, GST-inclusive total, renewal amount and add-ons before paying. A hardware bundle is displayed at ₹14,990–₹18,990 and reportedly includes software, an 80mm thermal printer, scanner and rolls; verify model, warranty and compatibility on the bundle page.
Rank #3
- 1. India's 1st AI enabled Online Accounting for SMEs
- 2. 41% less clicks needed to operate than other Apps / Online Software
- 3. Probably Only 'App' in India that does GSTR-1/3B/2A ...
- 4. Easiest to understand. No accounting knowledge required.
- 5. Drill-down reporting across the App to know from Balance Sheet to individual transactions and much more
Pros
- Broad retail coverage: billing, stock, barcode, POS, purchases, balances and GST workflows in one product.
- Deployment choice: offline operation for local control or cloud access for multi-device use.
- Potential offline value: a one-time licence can cost less over several years than recurring software, provided support and updates remain adequate.
- Retail-specific stock tools: batch, expiry, variants, serial numbers, MRP and reorder functions are useful beyond basic invoicing.
- Trial and training claims: the vendor advertises a 14-day trial and screen-sharing support options.
Cons and risks
- Independent review depth is limited: Techjockey has four reviews and Trustpilot one.
- Many ratings and testimonials are vendor-published, creating possible selection bias.
- Cloud invoice, user/device and company limits can create upgrade costs as a business grows.
- A long feature list may mean more configuration, training and tax-setting errors.
- Backup availability does not establish retention, encryption, restore testing or recovery time.
- Migration and data portability should be proven with an export, not assumed.
- “Lifetime” needs clarification about updates, support, cloud services and hardware warranty.
Who should use GSTpad?
- Single-store retailers, small wholesalers and distributors
- Businesses needing barcode or thermal-printer billing
- Shops that need inventory and billing together
- Businesses with unreliable internet that favour offline operation
- Owners preferring a one-time offline purchase over a subscription
- Retailers needing batches, serial numbers, variants, multiple prices or stock transfers
Who may be better served elsewhere?
Large multi-location companies, teams needing advanced audit trails, payroll or financial consolidation, businesses demanding a mature integration ecosystem, and users wanting a polished mobile-first cloud experience should compare alternatives carefully. GSTpad may be effective retail billing software without being the best choice for complex accounting.
Alternatives
| Product | Potentially stronger fit | Trade-off to examine |
|---|---|---|
| Zoho Books | Cloud accounting, reconciliation, reporting, roles and wider business workflows | Heavier workflows and recurring cost; India paid plans were shown from ₹749 per organisation/month annually, before local taxes |
| TallyPrime | Established desktop accounting and accountant familiarity | May exceed the needs of a simple barcode-billing counter; verify live pricing |
| Vyapar | Mobile-first small-business billing and basic inventory | Compare accounting depth and multi-company needs |
| myBillBook | Straightforward shop, distributor and retailer billing | Verify tier-specific e-invoicing, POS, barcode and multi-location features |
| Marg ERP | Distribution-heavy, pharma, FMCG and inventory-intensive operations | Potentially complex for a very small shop |
The GSTN welcome kit also identifies products such as Zoho Books, Marg GST Pro and Vyapari within its ecosystem; eligibility and paid extras must be confirmed with each provider (GSTN welcome kit).
Trial checklist before migration
- Create GST and non-GST invoices, apply discounts, scan barcodes and print on the exact printer you will use.
- Enter a purchase, receive stock, sell a batch item, process a return and confirm tax and inventory corrections.
- Test customer balances, payments, credit/debit notes, quotations and delivery challans.
- Generate GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, e-invoice and e-way-bill outputs using deliberately incorrect sample data; check error messages and retry handling.
- Test low-stock alerts, expiry controls, serial numbers, variants, stock transfer and multi-price selling.
- Export customers, suppliers, items, opening balances, invoices, purchases, tax reports, batches, serials and ledgers to a usable format.
- Back up and restore to a different computer. Ask about encryption, retention, versions, attachments and recovery time.
- Measure support response for printer setup, GST configuration, import, restore and filing questions.
- For branches or multiple GST registrations, confirm company, device, LAN, invoice and consolidated-reporting limits in writing.
Final verdict
GSTpad deserves consideration when a small Indian retail business wants broad billing and inventory functions, barcode support and an offline option. Its strongest apparent value is the combination of retail features and one-time offline pricing. The deciding weaknesses are limited independent evidence, unclear price presentation, cloud limits and unanswered questions about support, backup, migration and reliability. Trial it with realistic data and compare the three-year total cost and accounting depth with at least one alternative before committing.
