The GST change was still a proposal in the reporting available as of October 7; it was not confirmed as an operative rule.
What GST relief was proposed for small ecommerce sellers?
The Economic Times reported on October 5, 2026, that the GST Council was expected to consider allowing small sellers using ecommerce platforms to sell nationwide with one registered address. The reported approach would let a seller use a platform warehouse as its place of business in states where it had no premises of its own. The seller would still maintain a physical presence in one state for physical address verification and Aadhaar authentication.
These were reported features of a proposal under consideration, attributed to people familiar with what the Council would consider—not final eligibility rules. A separate October 5 search also found pre-meeting coverage, but no reported Council decision or final notification. The Council’s outcome, implementation date, eligibility conditions and final platform responsibilities were unresolved as of October 7, 2026.
What platforms might have to do
The Economic Times report also described possible platform duties: appointing a person responsible for seller information, providing verified seller data, and reporting changes such as a seller joining or leaving or changing particulars. These should be treated as proposed responsibilities, not obligations under an adopted rule.

How many sellers could be affected?
An Economic Times newsletter put the number of sellers supplying goods through ecommerce platforms at around 1.05 million, citing “available data” without identifying the originating dataset. It is a reported estimate, not an independently verified government count.
Can small ecommerce sellers currently sell nationwide with one GST registration?
The October 5 reporting does not establish that they can do so under the proposed warehouse-based arrangement. It describes a measure the Council was expected to consider, not an approved change. Sellers should not rely on the proposal as a current registration route unless a Council decision and implementing notification confirm the process and its conditions.

The available reporting identifies this portfolio but does not establish that any one business caused the first-day share-price decline.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the two developments mean for readers
For marketplace sellers, the potential GST change could reduce the need for separate premises across states, but its practical value depends on the Council’s final decision, eligibility criteria and implementation rules. For investors, AceVector’s reported IPO subscription and its first-day market price describe different things: subscription measures demand during the offering, while the BSE close shows where the shares ended trading on listing day. The reported FY26 loss narrowed, but the company remained loss-making.
