GSL Markets Review: What the Austrian FMA Warning Means

The Austrian FMA’s 2022 warning about GSL Markets is a serious caution, but it does not establish the provider’s status outside Austria or today.

Bottom line: The clearest verified information about GSL Markets is an Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA) warning published on 24 September 2022. The FMA said the provider was not authorized to carry out banking transactions in Austria that require a licence. That is a serious reason to pause before sending money, but the dated, Austria-specific notice does not establish the provider’s status in other countries or today.

What the Austrian FMA warning says

The FMA’s notice, titled “GSL Markets,” identifies gslmarkets.com and gslmarket.com and says the provider’s registered address was apparently in Bulgaria. The notice does not establish a verified corporate identity beyond the name and details it lists.

The regulator’s warning, dated 24 September 2022, states: “This provider is not authorised to carry out banking transactions in Austria that require a licence.” The FMA also said GSL Markets was not permitted to trade commercially on its own account or on behalf of others in Austria under the cited provision of the Austrian Banking Act. Read the FMA’s GSL Markets warning in its original Austrian context.

What the warning does—and does not—establish

The FMA notice is evidence of what the Austrian regulator said about GSL Markets in September 2022. It is not, by itself, a determination of the provider’s authorization status in Bulgaria or any other jurisdiction. The available information also does not establish whether the warning remains active or whether later developments changed the provider’s status.

Accordingly, it would be inaccurate to describe the notice as proof that GSL Markets is globally illegal or to present it as a confirmed statement of the provider’s status today. Anyone considering the service should check current records with the regulator for their own jurisdiction and verify the exact legal entity named in any account documents.

Are GSL Markets’ fees, features, and withdrawals verified?

No. The FMA notice does not describe GSL Markets’ trading instruments, account types, spreads, leverage, fees, withdrawal rules, software, or customer support. The two domains named in the warning could not be accessed for independent verification, so those current commercial details remain unverified here.

Do not assume that information published by a similarly named company applies to this provider. Before considering any deposit, obtain and check primary documents that identify the contracting legal entity and explain the product, all charges, how withdrawals work, where client funds are held, and what protections and complaint routes apply. If those details cannot be independently confirmed, do not rely on claims made in promotional material alone.

How to assess the risk before depositing

Start with the regulator rather than the platform’s marketing. Use the relevant regulator’s official register or warning pages, and search the exact company name, legal entity, and website domain. A regulator record for one similarly named business is not proof that it is the same provider.

  • Confirm authorization: Check the current register and warnings for your country, and confirm that the named entity is authorized for the specific service it offers.
  • Match the legal entity: Compare the entity in the regulator record with the one in the account agreement, payment instructions, and website legal documents.
  • Understand the product and costs: Identify what you would be trading and verify spreads, commissions, financing charges, leverage, and any other fees in primary documents.
  • Check money access and protections: Read the deposit and withdrawal conditions, find out what protections apply to client funds, and identify the official complaint route.
  • Stop if key facts do not line up: If authorization, identity, or withdrawal terms are unclear or inconsistent, do not send funds until you can resolve the discrepancy through an official source.

Can GSL Markets change your trading game?

The available verified evidence is not enough to assess the platform’s trading tools, costs, or service quality. What is established is a serious, dated warning from Austria’s financial regulator. That warning warrants caution, while the provider’s current status and terms require separate, current verification. On this evidence, there is no sound basis to recommend depositing money with GSL Markets.
