Grill’d opened at Waterford Plaza in Perth on Thursday, 15 February 2024, with a one-day promotion offering a free burger to the first 754 customers. The promotion has ended and is no longer available.
When did Grill’d open at Waterford Plaza?
The Waterford Plaza restaurant opened on 15 February 2024. PerthNow reported the opening on 12 February, describing the venue as Grill’d’s 28th restaurant in Western Australia. PerthNow’s report quoted Grill’d WA regional manager Aimee Edwards saying, “The Perth market continues to be a burger-loving growth area for the Grill’d business.”
Why was the giveaway limited to 754 burgers?
The number referred to the address of Grill’d’s first restaurant: 754 Glenferrie Road in Hawthorn, Melbourne. The opening promotion offered 754 free burgers as a nod to that address.
What were the promotion’s terms?
A third-party event listing identifying Grill’d as the host stated that the offer began at 10am on 15 February 2024 and was limited to the first 754 customers, one burger per customer, while stocks lasted. It applied to dine-in and takeaway orders. The listing named these eligible burgers:

What did Grill’d say about local jobs and suppliers?
In PerthNow’s 2024 report, Edwards said the Waterford opening created 31 local jobs and that Grill’d employed 740 people across Western Australia at the time. Those are figures attributed to the company’s regional manager in the contemporaneous report, not current employment statistics.
The same report said Grill’d sourced daily freshly baked bread and chicken, as well as seasonal fruit and vegetables, from WA farmers and suppliers. This was the company’s statement as reported at the time, rather than an independently verified sourcing audit. Edwards said: “We are also incredibly proud to support the WA economy, employing 740 staff members state-wide, and specifically creating 31 jobs for the Waterford location opening.”
