Malaysia has more than 20 fertilizer companies, but no authoritative public ranking establishes the country’s “top 11” by sales, market share or product quality. This unranked guide names 11 representative suppliers drawn from the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Fertilizer Industry Association of Malaysia (FIAM), with available product information to help buyers decide which companies to contact.
How this list was selected
MIDA identifies seven major fertilizer producers in Malaysia, without ranking them. FIAM’s directory lists 34 results, also without a ranking. The seven MIDA-named producers are included here, alongside four FIAM-listed companies whose official materials describe their products. This is a practical shortlist, not a claim that these are objectively the country’s 11 largest or best suppliers.
MIDA’s page says more than 20 fertilizer companies operate in Malaysia; it does not state a publication year for that figure. FIAM’s directory count may change. MIDA’s fertilizer industry overview and FIAM’s member directory are useful starting points for checking the broader supplier landscape.

Other FIAM-listed suppliers with reviewed product information
- Agromate. Founded in 1979, Agromate describes a broad portfolio: straight fertilizers, bulk blends, compound products, fortified organic and organic fertilizers, controlled-release products and water-soluble specialties. Its product page names NPK 15-15-15 formulations. The company’s product information is at Agromate’s product page; its background is at Agromate’s company profile.
- All Cosmos Industries. The company describes bio-chemical and bio-organic products formulated for crops including rubber, oil palm, paddy, fruit and vegetables. It also lists soluble foliar products such as Cal-Mag Pro and PK-Mix Plus. See All Cosmos Industries’ product information.
- FGV Fertiliser. FGV describes compound, mixture and straight fertilizer ranges. Its listed straight fertilizers include urea, ammonium sulphate, rock phosphate, muriate of potash and magnesium sulphate; named ranges include SunBear, SunFlower and Felda Series. FGV’s product overview claims annual production capacity of more than 600,000 metric tonnes, but gives no reporting year, so treat it as a company-page figure rather than verified current output. See FGV Fertiliser’s product overview.
- Hap Seng Fertilizers. Hap Seng describes a fertilizer trading and distribution business offering straight fertilizers and NPK products. The company says it has a granulation plant in Lahad Datu, Sabah, and identifies NAGA as an NPK brand. Its page also reports handling more than one million metric tonnes of fertilizer annually, but provides no reporting year; this is an undated company claim, not a current audited figure. See Hap Seng Fertilizers’ company page.
What the product descriptions mean for buyers
- Straight fertilizers supply an individual nutrient source, such as urea or muriate of potash. Whether one is appropriate depends on the crop’s needs and the field’s nutrient condition.
- Compound fertilizers combine nutrients in a formulated product. A label such as NPK 15-15-15 indicates the stated nutrient analysis; it does not by itself establish that the product suits every crop or field.
- Mixtures and bulk blends can offer another way to combine nutrients. Ask whether the analysis is consistent throughout the batch and request the product specification.
- Specialty, organic and foliar products are not interchangeable categories. Confirm the intended crop, application method and nutrient content on the label or technical sheet before comparing them with granular fertilizers.
Company descriptions establish what suppliers say they offer, not whether a particular product is available in your state, suitable for your farm or independently certified. Request current documentation from the seller before placing an order.
How to compare suppliers before buying
- Start with crop and growth stage. Specify the crop, planting or production stage, and—where relevant—tree age. A product selected for one crop or stage is not automatically appropriate for another.
- Compare the nutrient analysis and product type. Ask for the exact NPK and micronutrient analysis, whether the fertilizer is straight, compound, a mixture or a specialty product, and the recommended application method.
- Match the product to field conditions. Soil condition, rainfall and erosion can affect fertilizer choice and use. Get advice that reflects your location and crop rather than relying on a general-purpose formula.
- Check delivery and access in your state. Confirm stock, minimum order, packaging, delivery area and timing. A listed supplier may not serve every location or buyer size.
- Ask for quality and standards evidence. Request a current product specification, batch information and any applicable certification or test documentation. Treat a company’s accreditation claim as a claim to verify against the relevant certificate.
- Compare total cost, not just price per bag. Include delivery, labour, application frequency and the amount required at the recommended rate. A cheaper product may not be the lower-cost option once these factors are considered.
These considerations are consistent with RISDA’s guidance for rubber and smallholder settings, which says fertilizer rates depend on tree age and root development, fertilizer type and solubility, soil condition, rain and erosion, costs, labour and frequency. That guidance is specific to its stated context; it should not be treated as a universal rate-setting formula for every crop. RISDA also says fertilizers supplied through its assistance programs are checked for nutrient content, moisture, physical specifications and sampling, weight, and packaging. See RISDA’s agricultural inputs guidance.

Example fertilizer formulas from RISDA
RISDA publishes examples for rubber, not universal recommendations for Malaysian farms. Its formula header is N:P:K:Mg:B, although some listed rows do not supply five values. The figures below are reproduced as listed; no boron value is inferred where none appears.
| RISDA example | Listed analysis or description | Stated context |
|---|---|---|
| RISDA 1 | 10.7:16.6:9.5:2.4 (N:P:K:Mg) | Young rubber |
| RISDA 4 | 10:6:21 | Rubber older than 39 months |
| Rock phosphate | More than 28% P₂O₅ | Use in a planting hole |
Use these only as examples of crop- and stage-specific formulations. For a purchase, follow the relevant crop guidance and product label, and seek locally appropriate advice.
