Which grain contracts closed lower?
Successful Farming reported the following futures closes and daily changes for the April 14, 2025 session:

The figures are the quotations reported by Successful Farming for that session; they were not independently checked against exchange settlement records. The wheat rows refer to different markets—CBOT, KC and Minneapolis—so their prices and moves are not interchangeable.
What explanations did the recap give for the declines?
Corn
Successful Farming quoted Grain Market Insider, a newsletter from Stewart-Peterson Inc., as saying corn futures pulled back from overbought conditions and faced pressure from spillover weakness in wheat. That is the newsletter’s market commentary, not an independently established explanation of the price move.

Soybeans
The newsletter described soybean trading as mixed: front-month contracts closed lower while new-crop prices firmed. The recap’s listed July soybean contract was down 2¾¢ at $10.50¼ per bushel.
Wheat
Grain Market Insider attributed much of the wheat downturn to forecasts for beneficial rain in the southern and southwestern U.S. Plains. This was the newsletter’s explanation in the April 14 recap, rather than a verified causal finding.

What else did the market recap report?
Successful Farming reported that USDA had announced a sale of 120,000 metric tons of corn to Japan for the 2024/2025 marketing year. That purchase announcement is attributed here to the recap; independent confirmation from a USDA release was not established.
The same recap said livestock futures finished higher: June live cattle gained $2.28 to $199.08 per hundredweight, August feeder cattle gained $2.48 to $286.15 per hundredweight, and June lean hogs gained $1.80 to $95.13 per hundredweight. Those figures are included as the recap’s reported context, not as grain-market prices.

How should readers use these prices?
The listed values describe particular futures contracts at a particular historical close. They do not tell a farmer what a local elevator would pay: cash bids can differ by location, delivery terms, basis and timing. Nor do the April 14, 2025 quotations indicate current market levels.
