GrabAGun Digital Holdings Inc. began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on July 16, 2025, under the ticker PEW. Donald Trump Jr. joined the company’s board; he did not found the retailer, and the one-day drop does not establish how the business or its stock performed afterward.
What company went public?
The company was GrabAGun Digital Holdings Inc., an online retailer of firearms, ammunition, related accessories and other outdoor products. It entered public markets through a business combination with Colombier Acquisition Corp. II, a special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC—not through a traditional initial public offering.
Donald Trump Jr. joined the combined company’s board. GrabAGun’s July 15, 2025, announcement also described him as an advisor and shareholder. The announcement identified the company’s former owners as the sellers in the transaction, so calling GrabAGun Trump Jr.’s company would overstate his role.
What happened on the first trading day?
Colombier shareholders approved the transaction and the business combination closed on July 15, 2025. GrabAGun common stock began trading on the NYSE as PEW the following day; warrants traded as PEWW, according to the company’s closing announcement. Trump Jr. rang the opening bell at the debut.

The Associated Press reported that the shares initially rose, then closed down nearly 24% on July 16. Futurism reported an opening price of $21.40 and a closing price of $13.20 for that session. The percentages and prices describe the debut-day trading, not a longer-term result.
How did the SPAC transaction work?
In a SPAC business combination, a listed acquisition company combines with a private operating business, allowing the combined company to trade publicly after the deal closes. Here, Colombier Acquisition Corp. II was the SPAC and GrabAGun was the operating business. The companies announced the closing on July 15, 2025, and the shares began trading the next day.

The transaction’s proceeds require careful distinction: gross proceeds are not the same as cash ultimately delivered to the operating company.
- Former owners’ consideration: The SEC filing says GrabAGun’s former owners received 10 million newly issued common shares and $50 million in cash in aggregate, distributed pro rata.
- Trust-account funds delivered: After redemptions, cash consideration and certain transaction expenses, approximately $119 million remained from Colombier’s trust account and was delivered to the combined company, according to the SEC filing.
- Company’s proceeds figures: GrabAGun’s announcement described more than $179 million in gross proceeds and more than $119 million after secondary proceeds and transaction and advisory expenses. Those are the company’s stated figures and should not be read as saying it retained the full gross amount.
Why did GrabAGun stock fall?
The available reporting establishes that the stock fell sharply during its first trading session, but it does not establish a definitive reason. The timing of the decline alongside the SPAC listing and Trump Jr.’s board role is not evidence that either caused the price move. A first-day share price reflects trading at that point in time; it is not, by itself, an explanation of investor decisions or a measure of the company’s later performance.
