The named investors, managing partners Tarik Ouass and JR Rahn, joined GMA’s board. Ouass was also GMA’s first T.50 customer, which explains the “superfan” description—but the public announcement did not disclose the investment’s ownership percentage, structure, or valuation.
Who invested in Gordon Murray Automotive?
The investor was Halo Cars Group, which GMA described as founded and led by managing partners Tarik Ouass and JR Rahn. GMA said Ouass was its first customer, the first person to order a T.50, and had acquired every motorcar the company had created. “Superfan” is a shorthand for that unusually close customer-investor connection, not a formal title. GMA’s announcement set out those details on 17 December 2025.

What is known—and not known—about the deal?
GMA called the $120 million a strategic investment. Its announcement and transaction adviser Mills & Reeve’s 23 December 2025 notice confirm the investment, but neither disclosed the ownership percentage, investment instrument, or company valuation. Those omissions mean the announcement alone cannot establish whether Halo bought a particular shareholding, how the investment was structured, or what GMA was worth. Mills & Reeve said it advised GMA and its shareholders on the transaction; its notice does not provide the missing financial terms.
What does GMA say it will do with the money?
GMA said the funding would help deliver its existing order book, advance Special Vehicles programmes, and fund new research and development. The announcement named the sold-out S1 LM, Le Mans GTR, T.50s Niki Lauda, and T.33 range in discussing programme and delivery support. It gave no allocation showing how much of the $120 million would go to any one model, division, or purpose.

The company also said production activity in 2026 would continue for the T.50s Niki Lauda, T.33 range, and Special Vehicles’ Le Mans GTR. That was the plan as announced; it is not evidence that those cars were subsequently delivered. GMA described Special Vehicles as focused on ultra-rare bespoke interpretations of Gordon Murray designs, and identified the S1 LM as the division’s first creation. The wider group comprises Gordon Murray Automotive, Gordon Murray Special Vehicles, and Gordon Murray Advanced Engineering.
How did the investment change GMA’s leadership?
- Professor Gordon Murray remained Chairman and Chief Designer.
- Existing CFO Darren Jukes was appointed Interim CEO.
- Halo Cars Group managing partners Tarik Ouass and JR Rahn joined GMA’s board.
GMA said Murray’s product roadmap extended through 2039. That is the company’s description of its plans, not a disclosed schedule of future vehicle launches.

Why did the investors emphasize scarcity?
Ouass and Rahn described their approach as “not an investment in scale, but in further scarcity.” They said they believed limiting allocations of already exclusive production would help preserve GMA’s bespoke craftsmanship and engineering. This is the investors’ stated philosophy; the announcement does not say that production allocations had actually been reduced. Road & Track also reproduced the statement and interpreted the deal in the context of the investors’ interest in GMA’s limited-production cars, but that interpretation is not a disclosure of the transaction terms. Road & Track’s coverage provides that contemporary context.

What does the S1 LM auction have to do with the deal?
The investment announcement followed the November 2025 RM Sotheby’s Las Vegas sale of a Gordon Murray Special Vehicles S1 LM for $20.63 million. GMA described that result as the highest non-charity auction price ever achieved for a new car. The sale is context for the company’s rare-car strategy, not evidence of the investment’s structure, a valuation of GMA, or a forecast of its finances.

What the announcement means for readers assessing the business
The public facts establish the investor, headline amount, stated intended uses, and board and executive changes. They do not establish the deal’s ownership terms or what happened to production after the announcement. GMA also said it exported more than 80 percent of its supercars from its Highams Park production centre and completed its 100th T.50 in November 2025; these are company-reported operating details, not a comprehensive set of financial metrics. GMA’s release also states that cars designed by Murray secured five Formula One World Championships, a historical claim about his wider design record rather than a result of this investment. The company release is the source for these figures and qualifications.
