The headline $760 was the maximum trade-in value in a U.S. launch promotion for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, not an automatic discount. Google’s deal was scheduled to end September 7, 2024, and is expired. The $1,799 phone could work out to about $1,039 before tax only if Google approved the full $760 trade-in; a separate $350 Google Store credit was not cash or an upfront price reduction.

In a September 4, 2024 report, Droid Life described a launch offer with three separate parts: the phone’s $1,799 launch price, up to $760 in trade-in value, and a $350 Google Store credit. The phrase “$760 off” could suggest a discount any buyer would see at checkout. That was not the offer: the maximum depended on trading in an eligible phone in qualifying condition. The $350 credit was a distinct benefit issued after the new phone shipped, according to the report. It could be spent in the Google Store, but was not cash.

The September 4 report gave these examples of trade-in values. The estimated cost below subtracts each reported value from the $1,799 launch price; it assumes Google approved the full quoted amount and excludes sales tax. Values were examples, not guaranteed payouts for every device of that model.

These figures reflect the 2024 launch offer, not current trade-in quotes. The actual valuation depended on the selected model and the phone’s condition.
Why the trade-in was not an instant $760 discount
The purchase and trade-in happened in stages: the buyer paid for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, sent the old phone after receiving the replacement, and waited for inspection and valuation. Google’s general trade-in guidance says the old device must reach its trade-in partner within 30 days of receiving the new phone and must match the condition described at checkout. That timing matters to a household budget. The buyer might have to cover the full purchase price first, then wait for the approved trade-in value. The estimated post-trade-in cost is therefore not the amount necessarily charged at checkout.

- Check the model and describe its condition accurately; cracked glass, display faults, liquid damage, or other hardware problems can affect the offer.
- Back up data, remove account locks, and factory-reset the device before sending it.
- Photograph its condition and keep shipping and tracking records.
- Send it within the deadline shown for the transaction and retain the trade-in confirmation.
What the $350 Store credit was worth
The credit could be useful to someone who already planned to buy Google hardware or accessories, such as Pixel Buds, a Pixel Watch, or Nest equipment. Those are examples of possible uses, not a statement of the promotion’s complete redemption terms. A buyer who would not otherwise spend in the Google Store should not count the credit as equivalent to $350 in cash or as money available to pay the phone bill.

Who benefited most from the offer?
More compelling for existing Pixel Fold owners
The original Pixel Fold was the device associated with the reported $760 maximum, making its owners the strongest fit if they wanted to upgrade and could cover the purchase before reimbursement. Pixel 8 Pro owners were next among the listed examples, at a reported $699 trade-in value.
Less compelling without a valuable trade-in
Owners of lower-value or damaged phones would not necessarily approach the maximum. The offer was also a poorer fit for anyone needing an immediate checkout discount, unable to manage the temporary cash-flow gap, or unlikely to use Google Store credit. A high advertised value alone does not make a premium foldable affordable if the buyer must borrow to pay upfront.

Is the deal still available?
