Constellation says it plans to invest more than $4.3 billion, with the uprates expected to add 890 MW of capacity to the PJM grid. The deal supports upgrades to operating reactors; it is not a plan for Google to build 11 new reactors.
What Google’s $4.3 billion nuclear deal includes
The October 6, 2026 announcement describes three related but distinct agreements. The 890 MW figure belongs to the planned uprates at Constellation’s existing nuclear units. It should not be combined with the separate 2,700 MW supply agreement as though both figures represent newly built nuclear capacity.

The announcement does not report measured performance results from the technology alliance. It describes intended applications, not demonstrated savings or added generation attributable to those tools.
How the upgrades are expected to add capacity
A nuclear uprate increases the amount of electricity an existing plant can produce by improving its thermal or electrical efficiency. Google describes planned modernization of turbines, steam generators, and digital control systems. The units are already operating reactors; the project is not a new-reactor construction program.

The companies characterize the 890 MW as additional generation available to the PJM footprint. PJM is the regional grid operator serving parts of 13 states and the District of Columbia; Google describes its reach as 67 million people. These figures describe the grid’s footprint, not the number of Google customers receiving power under the deal.
Which plants and when the capacity is expected
The announced scope is 11 Constellation-owned nuclear units at six sites in Illinois, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. The October 6 announcement does not name the individual plants or units in the cited summary, so a plant-by-plant list cannot be established from it.

Google and Constellation estimate that the work will sustain roughly 4,400 existing jobs and create approximately 7,200 construction jobs across the six sites. These are company estimates, not independently audited employment results.

Google says the agreement is intended to support affordability while strengthening the PJM grid. That is the companies’ stated objective; the announcement does not quantify an effect on household electricity bills or establish that consumer rates will fall. The deal is a corporate power and capacity arrangement, not a consumer energy plan.
