Google Pixel Care+ can reduce the service fee to $0 for eligible front-screen, back-glass and qualifying battery repairs in the United States. It is not free coverage: you pay a monthly or two-year premium, and other accidental-damage claims can cost $49, $59 or $99. Google’s one-time 2026 open-enrollment period for existing Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 owners ended on August 2, 2026.
What Pixel Care+ actually is
Pixel Care+ is Google’s paid device-protection program for eligible Pixel phones, tablets, watches and Fitbit devices. Benefits differ by product and country; Google lists the United States, United Kingdom and Japan as participating markets. In the U.S., the plan combines accidental-damage protection with eligible post-warranty malfunction claims. Optional Loss and Theft coverage is available on some plans and in some locations.
Accidental damage includes events such as drops, cracks and spills, but the service fee depends on the type of claim and the device. The plan is tied to the enrolled device and is non-transferable.
What the $0 repair promise covers
Front screen and back glass
Google’s $0 service-fee benefit applies to eligible cracked front screens and eligible back-glass repairs on covered phones. It does not mean every physical repair is free. Damage to a frame, camera, hinge or other components may use the device’s standard accidental-damage fee. Cosmetic damage that does not affect functionality may not qualify.

Battery replacement
A battery that merely feels weak does not automatically qualify. Google requires diagnostic testing. Its support guidance generally describes eligibility when the battery retains less than 80% of its original capacity; the device must also be outside the manufacturer warranty, power on and fail to maintain an adequate charge under the plan’s testing process. The $0 amount is a waived service fee, not a promise to replace any battery on request.
Foldable displays are a major exception
The inner display of a foldable is not included in the no-cost screen-repair benefit. Google’s U.S. schedule, for example, lists a $99 accidental-damage service fee for an inner-fold-screen repair on the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Do not read “free screen repair” as coverage for every Pixel display.
What other claims cost
For accidental damage outside the eligible front-screen, back-glass and qualifying battery categories, Google commonly lists service fees of $49, $59 or $99, depending on the device tier. Loss and Theft claims have separate deductibles and limits; Google says that option is currently unavailable in New York. Taxes and applicable surcharges can be added to advertised prices.

The Google Store schedule is the authoritative source because prices and eligible models can change. These standard Pixel Care+ examples are listed by Google for U.S. customers:

Those calculations assume the monthly plan remains active for two years and exclude taxes.
U.S. terms describe monthly billing for up to 60 months, depending on the enrolled plan, while the two-year option is paid upfront. A Pixel 10 Loss and Theft example is $10 per month or $199 for two years, with a listed $79 replacement service fee. Compare that add-on separately from accidental-damage protection.

When can you enroll?
New purchases
For an eligible new device, Google generally allows enrollment during checkout or within 60 days of purchase. Depending on where you bought the phone, enrollment may be available through Google’s eligibility or management page, the My Pixel app or Google Fi. Entering the phone’s IMEI or serial number shows whether that particular device qualifies. The phone must be functioning and pass any required eligibility check.
The 2026 open-enrollment event has ended
Google announced a temporary U.S. opportunity on July 14, 2026, for existing owners of Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9a, Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10a. Phones had to be fully functional and free of cracks, mechanical defects and liquid damage. Enrollment ran through August 2, 2026, so it is no longer available as of October 1, 2026. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Pixel 10 Pro Fold were not on that event’s eligible list.

How to make a claim
- Open the Pixel Care+ membership portal and select the covered device.
- Describe the screen, back-glass, battery or other problem and complete any requested diagnostics.
- Submit the claim and wait for Google’s eligibility and claim determination.
- If approved, follow the assigned instructions for a Google Store or uBreakiFix repair, shipment or replacement. Provide the IMEI or serial number when requested.
Google advertises more than 700 repair locations, authorized parts and free next-day shipping for approved replacement claims when available. Actual repair versus replacement depends on the issue, location, parts supply and claim handling; a nearby walk-in appointment is not guaranteed. You can check locations through Google’s repair-center page.
Repair may mean a replacement
The U.S. terms allow Google to provide a new or refurbished device, the same model or a comparable model of similar kind and quality. A replacement can use original or non-original parts, come in a different color and may not work with every accessory. Therefore, “repair coverage” does not guarantee that your original handset will be returned or that every repair will be component-level.

Two-year premium + expected service fees + inconvenience versus your likely out-of-pocket repair or replacement cost without coverage.
It is more compelling when
- You own an expensive Pro or Fold model whose repairs are costly.
- You have previously cracked phones or regularly face drop and spill risks.
- A $0 front-screen or back-glass repair would be valuable and an authorized location is practical for you.
- You expect to keep the phone for at least two years and want an option for post-warranty malfunctions.
- You need separate Loss and Theft protection and do not already have overlapping insurance.
It may be poor value when
- You own an inexpensive A-series phone and could replace or repair it for less than the premium.
- You use a protective case, rarely damage devices and have a short upgrade or trade-in cycle.
- You live far from an authorized repair center or would rather use a lower-cost independent shop.
- You want every type of damage covered, especially an inner foldable display.
- Your carrier, renters or homeowners policy, credit card or another plan already covers the same risks.
Check deductibles, claim limits and exclusions before assuming another policy overlaps. The Pixel Care+ terms specifically warn that Loss and Theft protection can duplicate homeowners, renters, auto or personal-liability coverage. Manufacturing defects during the manufacturer-warranty period should normally go through warranty service, not an accidental-damage claim.
Before enrolling, review the full U.S. Pixel Care+ terms, including the binding individual-arbitration provision and the rules for cancellations, claims and replacements.
The practical verdict
Pixel Care+ is best understood as paid insurance and service protection with a valuable but narrowly defined $0 service-fee benefit. It can make economic sense for a costly Pixel Pro or Fold owner who expects a repair and values authorized service. It is harder to justify for a careful A-series owner, a short-term upgrader or anyone with equivalent existing coverage. Most importantly, confirm your model’s current price and eligibility before paying, because the 2026 special enrollment window is closed and foldable inner screens are not part of the free-repair promise.
