That launch price is not a reliable quote for today: Google’s current US pages show two configurations—a 400 GB offer whose price is not displayed on the plan page, and a separate 2 TB listing at $9.99 per month. The difference matters when deciding whether the subscription is worth adding to a household budget.
What does Google AI Plus cost in the US?
Google announced the US launch of AI Plus on January 27, 2026, at $7.99 per month, with a limited-time offer of 50% off the first two months for new subscribers. Those are launch terms, not confirmation of the current price or availability of a promotion. Google’s launch announcement described the plan with 200 GB of storage.
Google’s current US pages do not line up as a single, fully explained offer. The live AI plans page presents AI Plus with 400 GB, but the retrieved page does not show its price. A separate Google One US pricing page lists a 2 TB AI Plus plan for $9.99 per month. Google Help says AI Plus storage may be 400 GB or 2 TB, depending on the specific plan. The pages do not explain which subscribers see each version or how the two offers relate.
| Offer | Price and storage | What the figure establishes |
|---|---|---|
| US launch, January 27, 2026 | $7.99 per month; 200 GB | Google’s announced launch terms. The same announcement described 50% off the first two months for new subscribers for a limited time; it does not establish that the promotion remains available. |
| Current US AI plans page, accessed September 28, 2026 | 400 GB; price not stated on that page | Google’s current page describes this storage variant and 2x Gemini access compared with non-AI subscribers. |
| Google One US pricing page, accessed September 28, 2026 | 2 TB; $9.99 per month | Google lists this as a separate AI Plus plan. The page does not explain its relationship to the 400 GB offer. |
For a current purchase decision, check the price and storage shown on the offer available to your own account. Do not assume the launch price applies to either current version.

What does AI Plus include?
Google’s current AI plans page describes the 400 GB offer as including 2x Gemini access compared with non-AI subscribers, more access to Gemini 3.1 Pro and Deep Research, image, music and video generation, multi-page report creation, more Gemini Notebook access, and assistance in Gmail. Google also lists access to Flow and Gemini Notebook among the plan’s tools. Benefits and limits can change, so consult the current Google AI plans page for the offer displayed to you.
The separate 2 TB version may include premium Google Meet and Calendar features, according to Google Help. Do not assume every feature listed for one storage variant is included in the other without checking its terms. Google’s AI Plus benefit details describe eligibility and feature-specific limits.

Gemini access is not unlimited
“2x access” is Google’s comparison with non-AI subscribers; it is not a promise of twice the capability, a fixed number of prompts, or unlimited use. In a May 19, 2026 update, Google said Gemini app limits had shifted from daily prompt limits to compute-based usage limits. Those limits can depend on prompt complexity, features used, and chat length; they refresh every five hours until a weekly limit is reached. A paid plan can provide more access without guaranteeing that a particular task will always be available.
Gemini Notebook and Flow Music have separate details
Google Help says AI Plus members receive higher Gemini Notebook limits for Audio Overviews, flashcards, infographics, Q&A, quizzes, reports, slides, and video overviews, with up to 100 sources per notebook. For Flow Music Starter, Google lists 3,000 monthly credits—estimated by Google at roughly 600 songs—eight concurrent generations, core features, and commercial-use rights. Flow Music credits are separate from Google AI credits; the estimated song count is Google’s estimate, not a guaranteed output.

At launch, Google described Gemini 3 Pro and Nano Banana Pro in the Gemini app, AI filmmaking tools in Flow, research and writing assistance in NotebookLM, and 200 GB storage. Those were launch-day descriptions, not a guarantee that the same models, names, limits, or bundle remain unchanged.
How to judge the value for your budget
AI Plus bundles AI features with Google storage, so the useful comparison is not simply “AI plan versus no plan.” Consider what you would otherwise pay for storage, which AI tools you expect to use, and the exact offer available to you. Google storage is shared across Gmail, Drive, and Photos.
- If you mainly need storage: Compare the exact AI Plus variant offered to you with Google’s non-AI storage plans and your current storage use. A larger storage allotment has little value if you do not need it.
- If you mainly want Gemini: Consider whether the included tools and higher access match your regular tasks. The advertised access comparison does not mean unlimited use, and usage limits depend on how you use the service.
- If you already pay for Google storage: Check what happens to your existing plan and billing before switching. The available information does not establish how every subscriber’s account will be migrated, so rely on the terms and price presented in your account.
- If you would share it: A family group may make a shared storage allowance more useful, but only selected AI benefits are shareable and household members must meet Google’s country requirements.
Because the 400 GB price is not stated on its current plan page and the 2 TB page presents a different configuration, there is no sound basis for treating either as a universal current AI Plus price. Compare the exact amount and benefits at checkout against your existing Google costs before adding a recurring subscription.

Google’s launch announcement said the plan could be shared with up to five family members. Current Help Center terms say family members must be in the same country and that only selected AI benefits are shared; storage sharing is handled through the family group. The family manager controls plan changes. See Google’s family sharing terms for the current rules.

Check eligibility before counting on a feature
Not every benefit is available to every account. Google’s Help Center notes restrictions based on age, country, device, and account status, and warns that some AI features are experimental and can produce inaccurate or inappropriate results. For example, the described generative AI features in Google Photos are currently available in the US on Android, iPhone, and iPad. Check the terms for a feature you specifically want rather than assuming the plan unlocks it everywhere.
