On October 5, 2026, Mint reported 24K gold at ₹149,270 per 10 grams and 22K gold at ₹136,831 per 10 grams in Mumbai; its New Delhi rates were ₹149,010 and ₹136,593, respectively. Mint listed 999 fine silver at ₹226,360 per kilogram in Mumbai and ₹225,970 in New Delhi. Business Today published different same-day figures, so these are dated publisher-reported retail snapshots—not a guaranteed checkout quote. Mint and Business Today both reported rates on October 5.

Why same-day reports show different prices
Business Today’s October 5 report listed Mumbai 24K gold at ₹148,910 per 10 grams and 22K at ₹136,501; its New Delhi figures were ₹148,650 and ₹136,263. It reported silver at ₹226,380 per kilogram for both cities. These are Business Today’s figures, not revisions to Mint’s table.

Business Today also listed rates for Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Chennai. Those city figures should be read from its report rather than blended into Mint’s table. The two publications do not establish a single authoritative retail rate for each city or explain every difference between their tables.
For a further point of comparison, Moneycontrol reported international spot gold near $4,160 per ounce and domestic spot gold’s October 2 close at ₹147,770 per 10 grams, with silver at ₹221,443 per kilogram. Those market-context figures are not October 5 city retail rates and do not settle the discrepancy between the retail tables.

Retailer quotes and the final jewellery bill
Business Today’s October 5 retailer checks quoted 22K gold at ₹13,675 per gram at Joyalukkas and Malabar Gold & Diamonds, and ₹13,720 per gram at Tanishq. It listed Malabar’s 24K rate at ₹14,918 per gram; Tanishq’s 24K figure of ₹14,967 per gram was marked as estimated from its 22K rate. These are retailer-specific figures reported by Business Today, not a guarantee of a current store quote.
Business Today described its tables as base bullion rates and reported GST of 3% on the metal value plus 5% GST on jewellery making charges. A jewellery purchase can therefore cost more than the displayed base rate. Confirm the retailer’s current rate, making charges, applicable taxes and final invoice amount before buying.

How to use these prices when checking a quote
- Match purity: compare 24K with 24K, or 22K with 22K; do not treat them as interchangeable.
- Match city and unit: the city tables give gold per 10 grams and silver per kilogram, while retailer checks above are per gram.
- Keep market and retail figures separate: Mint reported MCX Gold 5 November futures at ₹148,129 per 10 grams and MCX Silver 4 December contracts at ₹226,393 per kilogram at around 9:05 a.m. IST on October 5. These are exchange futures with specified contract months and an approximate observation time, not city retail quotes.
- Ask for a current, itemised quote: October 5 prices are historical snapshots. A buyer looking to purchase on another date needs the retailer’s current rate and full payable amount.
