Glassdoor’s 2025 ranking named 13 technology companies among the 25 best U.S. internship employers: NVIDIA, AMD, Uber, Microsoft, LinkedIn, Adobe, Rivian, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), ServiceNow, Qualcomm, SAS, PayPal and Apple. Adobe had the highest reported median base monthly salary in this group at $8,500; NVIDIA and AMD shared the highest Glassdoor rating at 4.2. These are historical ranking figures, not current job listings or guaranteed pay.
Glassdoor’s 13 technology companies, ranked
Glassdoor published a broader list of 25 best U.S. internships for 2025; the table below isolates its technology-sector companies and preserves their positions in the full ranking. “Tech position” is an editorial count within this subset, not a separate ranking Glassdoor published. Salary figures are Glassdoor’s median base monthly estimates, and ratings are overall Glassdoor ratings.

Rivian belongs in the list: it is No. 12 in Glassdoor’s original ranking. TechRepublic’s secondary article omitted it from its extracted company list, leaving 12 names despite its headline. The primary ranking is the basis for the complete 13-company table. Glassdoor’s ranking; TechRepublic’s article.
The five highest positions in the full 25-employer list were EY-Parthenon, Capital One, NVIDIA, AMD and Uber. The overall top five therefore included only three companies in this technology subset; the table’s tech positions should not be confused with the full-list positions.

How to interpret pay and ratings
Adobe’s $8,500 was the highest median monthly base-salary estimate among the 13, while SAS’s $5,166 was the lowest. NVIDIA, LinkedIn and Qualcomm tied at $8,333. NVIDIA and AMD tied for the group’s top overall rating, 4.2; Apple had the lowest rating in the subset, 3.8. These are comparisons of Glassdoor’s published figures, not a guarantee that a particular opening will pay those amounts or provide a particular experience.
The salaries are monthly medians based on Glassdoor data, not annual compensation or universal rates across roles and locations. Multiplying a monthly figure by 12 would create an illustrative annualized equivalent, not a likely internship paycheck: most internships last less than a year, and actual pay can vary with job family, location, degree level and program length. The reported figures also do not establish housing, relocation, bonuses, overtime eligibility or tax treatment.
Rank #2
A high salary does not by itself establish that an internship has stronger mentorship, more substantive work, a better manager or a higher chance of a full-time offer. Company-wide sentiment can also conceal substantial differences across teams, offices, disciplines and managers.
What Glassdoor measured—and what it did not
Glassdoor’s list covered U.S. intern data submitted from April 1, 2024, through March 31, 2025. Eligible employers had to have at least 1,000 employees, 15 intern salaries, 15 intern reviews and 10 workplace-factor ratings. Glassdoor combined median salary, overall review rating and workplace-factor ratings. Its article does not disclose the relative weight of each component. Glassdoor explains the ranking and criteria.

- The 1,000-employee threshold favors large employers and excludes smaller startups and specialist firms, regardless of whether their intern programs are strong.
- The review and salary minimums are thresholds, not proof that the submitted experiences represent every intern. People who choose to post reviews may not be representative of the entire intern population.
- Median pay may reflect a concentration of higher-paid roles or metropolitan markets. It should not be treated as the rate for every discipline or location.
- The list is a snapshot of data ending March 31, 2025. It does not establish current openings, compensation, eligibility rules or program quality in 2026.
Glassdoor did not publish a separate top-13 ranking limited to technology companies. It ranked 25 U.S. employers, and the table above extracts the 13 in the technology sector. The set includes semiconductor, software, consumer-platform, enterprise technology, payments and automotive-technology employers; it is not a comparison of interchangeable internship roles.
How competitive are technology internships?
Glassdoor reported that technology internships generated about 2.5 times as many applications started per listing as the average sector during the 2025 internship season. Data-science internships were about 6.9 times the average, according to the same analysis. Software engineering, DevOps, cybersecurity, AI and machine learning, UX or product design, business analysis and product management were also identified among the most competitive categories. “Applications started per listing” is not a completed-application count, an acceptance rate or a measure of how many applicants met a role’s requirements. Competition varies by location, discipline, degree level, school, work authorization and recruiting cycle.
When to apply
In the seasonal pattern Glassdoor observed for the period covered by its 2025 analysis, internship listings generally rose in October and November, accelerated in January and peaked in February and March. Most candidates applied between January and May; fall was described as less competitive because listings increased before application activity reached its peak. This is a historical pattern, not a promise about openings or deadlines for 2026 or 2027. Check each employer’s current official job listings.

- Start before the peak. Set alerts and review target employers in fall rather than waiting until the busiest months.
- Check eligibility on the specific posting. Verify degree level, graduation date, enrollment status, field of study, location and work-authorization requirements. Microsoft notes that eligibility depends on the individual job description; its internship page directs candidates to those opportunities.
- Apply through the employer’s official portal. Job boards can help with discovery, but the employer’s listing is the authoritative place to confirm requirements, location and status.
- Tailor each application. Connect relevant coursework, projects, tools and experience to the role’s stated qualifications; prepare for technical or role-specific assessments where the posting indicates them.
- Track applications and deadlines. Record the role, location, submission date, status and follow-up so you can manage multiple recruiting timelines.
If a company has no suitable opening, keep monitoring its official listings and apply to other employers rather than treating the Glassdoor ranking as a promise of future availability. Do not pay an employer to apply, interview or secure a guaranteed offer; verify recruiting messages through the company’s official domain before sharing sensitive identity information.

Employer career pages explain how companies present their programs, but their descriptions are promotional material, not independent verification of Glassdoor’s ratings or a guarantee of a particular intern experience.
- NVIDIA: Describes interns as employees working on real projects, says internships are generally at least 12 weeks, and presents internships as a pathway for new-college-graduate and early-career hiring. NVIDIA university recruiting.
- AMD: Describes real-world projects, mentoring, development sessions, networking and potential post-graduation opportunities. AMD student programs.
- Microsoft: Describes real projects, learning from employees and mentors, and career exploration; eligibility is specified in individual job descriptions. Microsoft university internships.
- HPE: Says interns can make an immediate impact and may be considered for another internship or a full-time role after graduation. HPE interns.
- ServiceNow: Promotes early-career opportunities, platform-skills development and early-career recruiting channels. ServiceNow early careers.
- Qualcomm: Describes regional programs, internship searches, mentoring, meaningful projects and early-career development. Qualcomm internships and early-career opportunities.
Compare the offer, not just the employer name
When you have a posting or offer to evaluate, compare the actual role and terms. A lower-ranked opportunity can be a better fit if it offers relevant work, close mentorship or a more realistic path to completing the internship and building experience.
- Role fit and project substance: Is the work aligned with your goals, and does the description explain a project, research, production work or customer-facing responsibilities?
- Mentorship and feedback: Ask who will supervise you, how often you will meet, and whether the program includes technical mentors, structured check-ins or peer support.
- Pay and total costs: Confirm hourly or monthly pay, overtime rules, housing or relocation assistance, work location, commuting costs and the internship’s duration. Compare the written offer rather than relying on a company-wide median.
- Work arrangement and eligibility: Confirm on-site, hybrid or remote expectations, relocation needs, enrollment requirements and work authorization for the specific role.
- Conversion expectations: Ask whether return offers are considered and what factors affect them. Do not assume an internship guarantees a full-time position.
- Timing and stability: Check whether the role is summer-only or also offered off-cycle, and consider how business or team changes could affect the work and any return-offer pathway.
- Learning environment: Ask what tools, systems, labs, code reviews or customer work interns can access, and what deliverables are expected by the end.
Do internships at these companies lead to full-time jobs?
Glassdoor reported that 63% of workers in a recent Community poll said their internship helped them land a full-time job; the share was 75% among respondents aged 21–25. Separately, 54% of surveyed Community users said their internship prepared them for their careers. These are broad poll responses, not conversion rates for the 13 employers, and they do not show that an internship alone caused a later hire.

Glassdoor also said that 90% of positive intern reviews mentioning a “return offer” described not receiving one as a con. That is a finding about what those reviews said, not the share of interns denied offers. A highly rated program can still lack a return offer for an individual intern.
