A Mandurah Times report republished by PerthNow on 24 March 2025 said the store would open on Thursday morning. It did not print the date, and the announcement alone does not confirm the store’s current operating status.
Where is the Halls Head store?
The report placed the store at the former Farmer Jack’s site in Halls Head. The A better choice! retailer directory lists the address as 20 Peelwood Parade, Halls Head WA 6210, and gives the telephone number as (08) 6288 2777. The directory details were accessed on 8 October 2026.
What did the store plan to offer?
Owner Gilbert Correia described Gilberts & Sons as a family-owned and run business focused on fresh fruit and vegetables, alongside a wide range of specialty grocery items. The report said the Halls Head store was intended to resemble the existing stores while including some differences and surprises. Its photo caption identifies Correia’s sons Chris, Simon and Michael.

Local products and produce planning
Correia estimated that about 99 per cent of the business’s products came from within Western Australia and said the Halls Head store would continue stocking products made by locals. That percentage is his reported estimate, not an independently audited figure.
He also described planning ahead for produce ripeness, saying the business might buy avocados four or five days before they were expected to be ripe and ready for customers. This was Correia’s account of the company’s approach, not a guarantee about every item or every retailer.
