What is known about the July 2025 federal case?
On July 30, 2025, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California announced that Arenas and five others had been arrested and charged in connection with alleged illegal poker games at an Encino mansion and alleged false statements. The announcement listed counts against Arenas of conspiracy to operate an illegal gambling business, operating an illegal gambling business, and making false statements to federal investigators. These are allegations in an indictment, not findings of guilt.
The Associated Press reported that Arenas pleaded not guilty at his July 30, 2025 arraignment. His attorney, Jerome Friedberg, told reporters: “At this point in the case, he is presumed innocent, right?” The official announcement and AP account cited here do not establish the case’s later disposition, so they do not support describing it as resolved or stating a newer court date.
