George Wendt’s net worth was estimated at $10 million at the time of his death in 2025, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Parade attributed the same figure to that publisher. It is an estimate, not a confirmed estate value: the cited sources do not provide an estate inventory, probate record, financial statement, or confirmation from Wendt’s representatives.
What the $10 million figure does—and doesn’t—tell us
Celebrity Net Worth presents $10 million as Wendt’s estimated net worth at death. Parade’s May 20, 2025, article also gives $10 million and identifies Celebrity Net Worth as its source. That makes the figure a published estimate, not two independent valuations. Celebrity Net Worth says its figures are estimates unless otherwise indicated; Parade’s report likewise attributes the amount to that source.

The sources cited here do not establish the value of Wendt’s estate or account for assets, debts, taxes, or other liabilities. Net worth is generally the value of assets minus liabilities, while an estate’s value and what beneficiaries may ultimately receive can be affected by expenses and legal or tax obligations. Without a primary accounting, the estimate should not be treated as a verified balance sheet or as an amount inherited by anyone.
How his career provides context, not a calculation
Cheers and Norm Peterson
Wendt was best known for playing Norm Peterson on Cheers, which ran from 1982 to 1993. The Associated Press and The Washington Post report that he received six consecutive Emmy nominations for supporting actor from 1984 through 1989. These milestones explain why his television work is central to accounts of his career, but they do not disclose his compensation or total earnings. The Washington Post’s obituary covers the show and nominations; AP’s report also records the nominations.

Work beyond the sitcom
AP reports that Wendt spent six years with Chicago’s Second City and later performed onstage, including in Broadway productions of Art, Hairspray, and Elf. The Washington Post also describes his film, television, Broadway, and regional theater work. This was a career across several forms of entertainment, but the available reporting does not quantify what those credits earned over a lifetime.
Wendt died at 76 in 2025. AP reported that his family said he died peacefully in his sleep at home. That biographical detail does not change the uncertainty around the financial estimate.

Why reported pay and property figures are not proof of net worth
Celebrity Net Worth also reports a peak Cheers salary of $200,000 per episode and says Wendt bought a home in 1985 for $335,000 that it estimated was worth $4 million at his death. Those claims are not corroborated by the stronger biographical reporting cited here, so they should not be treated as established financial facts. Even if an individual salary or property valuation were confirmed, neither would by itself establish net worth: income is not the same as accumulated assets, and property value does not account for ownership shares, debt, expenses, or other obligations.
It would therefore be misleading to multiply an alleged per-episode salary by episode counts, assume residual income, or add a property estimate to produce a new total. The available sources do not provide the information needed for that calculation.
