The raffle and the event have both ended: the first drawing was announced for December 16, 2024, and the passes covered GDC from March 19–21, 2025. This is a retrospective account, not an open application.
What GDC donated—and how the pool grew
In November 2024, GDC selected Amir Satvat’s Games Community as an official GDC 2025 Industry and Media Partner and contributed 240 Expo Passes. GamesBeat reported the donation’s stated value as $108,000. Satvat said additional donations brought the community pool to 285 passes, valued at $128,000 in total. GamesBeat’s November 11, 2024 report and Satvat’s announcement describe the figures.
OtherSide Entertainment contributed 40 passes. Satvat also named David Wohlreich and Danreb Victorio among the additional contributors. The 285 figure refers to the combined announced pool—not to GDC’s contribution alone.
Who the raffle was intended to help
The planned distribution was for games-industry jobseekers. Anyone could enter, but unemployed applicants were to receive priority, followed by underemployed applicants. Satvat’s announcement put it this way: “Who is eligible? Anybody, with total priority given to unemployed, and then underemployed, gamers seeking work in video games.”

Those are figures reported in 2024, not current totals. GamesBeat also reported that Satvat had more than 100,000 LinkedIn followers at that time.
