In a September 16, 2023, profile, GeekWire described the Army veteran as co-founder and CEO of Seattle pet-care startup Felix&Fido. Woody told the publication that he keeps asking himself what will move him forward and what deserves priority. That is his perspective on the link between endurance and leadership—not proof that athletic grit guarantees business success.
What Woody’s endurance races show
The clearest example in GeekWire’s 2023 account is the Iditarod Trail Invitational, a 350-mile Alaska race. The profile reported that Woody completed it on skis in eight days and six hours, pulling a 40-pound sled in temperatures that reached 45 degrees below zero. It also said he became the third person to complete the event by foot, ski and bike, and that he won the foot division in 2018. These results are attributed to GeekWire’s profile, rather than independently verified race records.
That same article said Woody had just finished the 100-mile Plain race near Leavenworth in 33 hours, with 21,000 feet of elevation gain and loss. It also named Bigfoot 200, UTMB, Tor des Géants, Western States 100, Hardrock 100 and Badwater 135 among his events, and described climbs of Mount Rainier, including a route Woody called the “Infinity Loop.” These are achievements reported in 2023, not a current race schedule.
How Woody connects endurance with leadership
Woody’s explanation is less about a motivational slogan than a continuing calculation: “You’re just constantly thinking about all of these different elements — how can I keep moving forward and what’s the highest priority?” he told GeekWire. On a long race, that means attending to the conditions and the next decision; in a startup, the analogy is deciding what deserves attention amid competing demands. The profile presents this as Woody’s approach, not as a formal finding about athletic performance and executive ability.

He’s got to be the most extraordinary person I’ve ever met.” Gottesman’s praise conveys how a business associate viewed Woody; it is not independent evidence that endurance training caused startup success.
From West Point and military service to startups
GeekWire reported that Woody grew up on a California cattle ranch, attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and studied mechanical engineering before earning an MBA at Stanford. Its 2023 coverage also described him as a former Army infantry captain who parachuted into Iraq at the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom and later worked at McKinsey, Expedia, A Place For Mom and Porch.

The different roles reflect information published at different times; the sources here do not establish whether Woody still leads Felix&Fido.
What Felix&Fido set out to do

What later sources add
Team Red, White & Blue’s 2025 Old Glory Ultra Relay materials described Woody as an operations executive and endurance athlete, and said he had completed more than 100 ultramarathons, including wins at the Iditarod Trail Invitational 350 and Bigfoot 200. WSLS reported that he was one of 12 veterans selected for the relay. In comments to the station, Woody emphasized collective purpose: “This is not about a single person, it’s about the team and the overall mission. And the mission is to enrich veterans’ lives.”
The relay update adds a later chapter to the public portrait: endurance remains part of Woody’s identity, while his remarks there focus on a shared mission rather than individual achievement. It does not resolve his present title at Felix&Fido.
