The offer is historical, not a current deal: the available reports do not establish its exact dates or whether GameStop has the console at that price now.
What the 2023 GameStop PS5 deal offered
TechTimes published a report about the GameStop deal on November 23, 2023, describing a discount of up to $50 on the original PS5. Tom’s Guide’s contemporaneous Black Friday roundup provides the clearest price comparison: $449 instead of $499, a $50 reduction.
| Item | Reported 2023 price |
|---|---|
| Original PS5 | $449 sale price; $499 list price; $50 off, according to Tom’s Guide’s Black Friday 2023 roundup. |
The roundup is the source for those figures; the TechTimes report establishes the deal’s subject and publication date. Neither source establishes the exact start or end date of this specific GameStop listing, so November 23 should not be treated as proof that the offer began that day or remained available for a particular period.
Which PS5 the discount applied to
The deal concerned the original PS5, not the PS5 Slim. Tom’s Guide listed the original console separately from a Slim Spider-Man 2 bundle. Its limited comparison describes the original unit as larger than the Slim and says the launch unit has the same internal components. That does not establish a complete model-by-model comparison of storage, bundles, condition, warranty, or value.

Is the $449 GameStop price available now?
No current GameStop price or stock status is established by the reports about the 2023 promotion. PlayStation’s separate Black Friday Deals 2025 announcement says participating retailer offers varied by region and retailer; it does not confirm that GameStop is still offering the 2023 price.
For a present-day purchase decision, check GameStop’s current listing and checkout price directly, including the exact PS5 model and any bundle or condition details. Do not use the $449 figure as a current quote or assume the historical $50 saving applies to the Slim.
