Bottom line: The Galaxy S25 can still be a good buy in the U.S. if an unlocked discount or a strong trade-in makes it meaningfully cheaper than a current-generation phone. Samsung’s U.S. buying page showed $799.99 for the 128GB S25 and $899.99 for the 256GB version during the August 2026 check; Samsung displayed up to $570 in trade-in value on the 256GB page, but that maximum depends on the eligible device and live promotion. Check the exact configuration, stock, and checkout total before paying. A carrier’s “free” offer is different: it may depend on a qualifying plan and monthly bill credits that stop if you leave early.
Galaxy S25 prices and deals to check first
The S25 series launched in 2025, so it is now a previous-generation flagship rather than Samsung’s newest Galaxy generation. Samsung announced the S25 series on January 22, 2025, with general availability beginning February 7, 2025. Samsung’s launch announcement provides the dated generation context.
Prices and stock change, and a listed price is not proof that every color or storage option is available. The following Samsung prices were visible during the August 2026 check; verify the live checkout price for the configuration you want.

How to compare the offers
There was no single verified, universally available S25 sale price across retailers in the August 2026 information. Samsung’s page showed some configuration or color availability differences. Best Buy’s S25 listings include unlocked inventory and carrier-specific offers, but the right price depends on the exact SKU and activation terms. Check Best Buy’s S25 listings for the exact model, condition, storage, seller, and availability rather than treating a family search page as one offer.

Best Buy’s published AT&T S25 trade-in offer illustrates why a carrier promotion is not the same as an unlocked markdown: eligible devices and maximum credits depend on the offer conditions. AT&T’s Samsung offers page should be checked for the current S25 promotion and requirements.
Calculate the real cost of a carrier deal
A phone advertised as free or heavily discounted may be paid for through monthly credits rather than reduced at checkout. Compare the whole commitment, not just the device’s displayed monthly payment:
Real carrier cost = upfront taxes and fees + required plan cost during the commitment period + any device balance left after credits − service value you would have paid for anyway − trade-in value available elsewhere.

Then list these items separately so a headline credit does not obscure the trade-offs:
- Phone discount and trade-in value.
- Whether you must add a line, upgrade, or use a specific plan.
- Plan-price premium over a lower-cost plan you would otherwise choose.
- Activation fees and taxes, including whether tax is based on the pre-credit price.
- Number and value of monthly bill credits.
- Installment balance and what happens if you cancel, switch, or upgrade early.
- Gift cards or accessory credits, which are not cash-equivalent savings.
T-Mobile’s published terms refer to 24 monthly bill credits, taxes on the pre-credit price, and possible loss of credits after account cancellation; the remaining financing balance may then become due. Review the current terms on T-Mobile’s Samsung deals page before enrolling. A carrier offer can be a strong deal for an existing customer who already wants the qualifying plan and will stay through the credit period. It may be a poor deal for someone who needs a new line or wants the freedom to change carriers.
Samsung trade-in: get a quote you can verify
Samsung displayed up to $570 in trade-in value on the S25 256GB buying page during the August 2026 check. That is a displayed maximum, not a guaranteed credit for every phone. The live checkout estimate for your exact trade-in device and condition is the useful figure. Maximums vary by model, promotion, and eligible device; other Samsung offer pages have displayed different figures over time. Start with the S25 buying page and review Samsung’s trade-in terms.
Typical eligibility checks
Samsung’s published requirements include that the device powers on and holds a charge, does not unexpectedly shut down, has a functioning display, and has no prohibited cracks, liquid damage, or defects beyond normal wear, unless a specific offer permits a cracked screen. The device must not be blacklisted, must meet applicable identification requirements, and must be reset with personal information removed and software locks disabled. It must be owned by you rather than leased. Read the live terms because the exact requirements and any cracked-screen exception depend on the offer.

Trade-in steps that reduce avoidable disputes
- Select the exact S25 model and storage on Samsung’s buying page, choose trade-in, identify your old device accurately, and answer the condition questions honestly.
- Review the estimated credit, net checkout price, promotion terms, return deadline, and shipping instructions. Save screenshots or a PDF of the quote and terms.
- Back up the old phone before removing accounts or resetting it. Disable relevant account and security locks, including Apple Activation Lock on an iPhone and Google or Samsung locks on Android devices.
- Factory-reset the phone, then photograph it powered on and document its condition and IMEI before shipment.
- Use the supplied shipping instructions, keep the tracking proof, and monitor the inspection result. If the credit is reduced, compare the inspection reason with your saved condition record and act within the stated dispute window.
Samsung generally does not allow its trade-in program to be combined with other Samsung, carrier, or retailer promotions unless the specific terms say otherwise. Confirm whether the offer stacks before counting more than one discount. The live terms are on Samsung’s S25 offers page.
Which Galaxy S25 model makes sense?
Galaxy S25: compact flagship for the lowest entry price
The standard S25 is the natural choice if you want a relatively compact phone, flagship-oriented features, and the least expensive entry into the main S25 family. Its smaller screen and battery are trade-offs versus the S25+, and it does not have the Ultra’s camera versatility. Consider 256GB if its price premium over 128GB is modest; 128GB is more suited to people who stream most media and routinely manage photos and files.
Galaxy S25+: more screen without Ultra pricing
The S25+ suits buyers who want a larger display and battery, more display area, and faster charging without paying for the Ultra. It is less pocket-friendly than the standard S25 and does not add the S Pen or Ultra camera array. Since promotion pricing can bring models closer together, compare actual checkout totals rather than relying on list prices.
Galaxy S25 Ultra: camera, zoom, and S Pen priorities
The Ultra is for buyers who will use its more capable camera system, zoom, S Pen, larger display, and premium design enough to justify the highest upfront price. A large carrier credit does not automatically make it cheaper overall if it requires a costly plan, new line, or loss of existing service discounts.

Galaxy S25 FE: lower-cost alternative, not a like-for-like S25
The S25 FE is the lower-priced entry in the broader Galaxy ecosystem, but it is not simply the standard S25 at a discount. Compare its storage, cameras, processor, charging, build, and expected update support against the S25. If a discounted standard S25 comes close in price, the FE’s price advantage may not be enough to make it the better value. The March 2026 Samsung MSRP file lists $649.99 for 128GB and $709.99 for 256GB; verify live pricing before deciding.
Do not confuse S25-family offers
The S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, S25 Edge, and S25 FE are distinct models. A trade-in maximum, price, or promotion for one does not establish the deal available on another. Confirm the exact model name and storage in the cart, especially when comparing carrier and retailer listings.

The S25 is worth considering when its unlocked price or personalized trade-in quote creates a substantial gap from a comparable current-generation phone. There is no reliable universal dollar threshold here: current-generation prices and trade-in terms vary by model and promotion, so compare live checkout totals for equivalent storage and purchase conditions.
- Choose the S25 if you want its compact size, are comfortable buying a previous-generation flagship, and find a meaningful unlocked discount or high-value trade-in.
- Compare the current generation if the S25 is close to its newer equivalent in price, you value the newest processor or camera system, or you plan to keep the phone for many years.
- Compare the S25 FE if your budget is the priority and its lower price remains substantial after matching storage and checking the specification differences.
- Check S24 inventory if an older discounted model is available, but compare support horizon, exact configuration, and warranty status rather than choosing on price alone.
Long-term software support matters more when you expect to keep a phone for years. Confirm Samsung’s support terms for the specific model before purchase; the current information here does not establish a model-by-model support end date. Resale value is also uncertain, so do not assume a newer model’s future resale will repay its price premium.

Choose the retailer by your buying situation
Samsung.com for unlocked buying and direct trade-in
Samsung’s direct route can suit buyers who want an unlocked device, have a valuable eligible trade-in, or want to avoid carrier financing. The estimate may change with the device, condition, and promotion, and Samsung pages can show configuration or color stock differences. Check the exact listing and current terms rather than relying on an old indexed offer.
Best Buy for pickup and retailer-specific offers
Best Buy can be useful for in-store pickup, unlocked inventory, and retailer-specific gift-card or carrier promotions. A gift card has value only if you can use it; count it separately from an instant reduction in the phone price. Confirm whether a listing is new, U.S. warranty-backed, the correct storage tier, and sold by a seller you trust. Review the applicable return and activation conditions before checkout.
Carrier for customers already committed to the plan
A carrier may win when you already have the qualifying plan, are staying for the entire credit period, and receive a strong offer for your specific trade-in. It is less attractive if you must pay for a more expensive plan, add a line you do not need, or surrender flexibility to retain the credits.
When selling your old phone privately may be better
Compare Samsung’s quote with local private-sale prices, reputable used-device marketplaces, buyback services, and the carrier’s actual trade-in offer. A private sale may return more money, but it takes time and brings payment, shipping, and buyer-dispute risks. A lower manufacturer trade-in can be worthwhile if the convenience and predictable transaction matter more than the highest possible sale price.

Check compatibility before buying an unlocked or imported phone
“Unlocked” does not guarantee that every carrier feature will work. Before ordering, verify compatibility for your carrier and the exact U.S. model, including 5G bands, eSIM, Wi-Fi calling, VoLTE provisioning, and any carrier-specific device policy. An imported international S25 may have different band support, warranty coverage, or software behavior from the U.S. version.
Finally, ignore stale promotional pages unless their dates and terms confirm an offer is active. Samsung’s S25 offers page can retain dated benefits or past promotions, so validate what appears in the live cart. Recheck stock, price, trade-in estimate, and terms immediately before buying.
