Recycled glass and recycled lumber urns appear in adjacent examples, but neither establishes historic provenance or a currently available product matching that description. Before buying, ask the maker to document the material’s origin, the urn’s intended use and placement, and its construction.
What is actually documented
The sources establish examples of recycled materials in urns, but not a specific urn made from historic material that is currently for sale.
- A 2023 feature says Laurel Hill’s selection includes metal, wood, some locally sourced, and glass urns, some made from recycled glass. It does not say that the glass is historic or identify a matching product listing. Laurel Hill feature
- A feature about West Laurel Hill reports that a pet cemetery was created using recycled stones and that pets are buried in urns made from recycled lumber. This is a pet-burial example; it does not establish a human funeral urn or historic reclaimed wood. West Laurel Hill feature
- A 2026 U.S. patent application describes common urn materials such as wood, natural stone, ceramic, glass, and steel, and discusses biodegradable materials including recycled or handmade paper, salt, and cellulose. It provides general category context, not evidence of a particular product for sale. 2026 U.S. patent application
These categories should not be treated as interchangeable: recycled material does not necessarily mean reclaimed from a historic building, site, or object. None of these sources documents historic provenance for an urn.
How to assess a claimed historic-material urn
For a product advertised as made from recycled historic materials, ask the maker for direct documentation before treating the claim as established. A meaningful answer should identify what the reused material is, where it came from, and how it is incorporated into the urn.

- Maker and material: Who made the urn, and is the material recycled glass, reclaimed wood, stone, or something else?
- Provenance: What is the material’s documented history and origin? A general statement such as “recycled” does not by itself prove historic provenance.
- Intended use: Is the urn designed for human or pet remains? Is it for display, burial, or water placement? Do not infer one use from another.
- Construction and closure: Ask how the urn is made and how it closes. The available sources do not establish construction details for a matching product.
- Practical specifications: Confirm capacity, dimensions, care instructions, and current availability with the seller; none is established for a product matching this description.
Recycled, historic, and biodegradable are different claims
“Recycled” describes reuse of material; “historic” implies a documented connection to a past structure, site, or object. “Biodegradable” describes a different property and does not establish either recycled content or historic origin. The patent application’s mention of recycled or handmade paper, salt, and cellulose is category context, not proof that any particular urn has those properties.
For comparison, the available recycled-glass example concerns some urns in Laurel Hill’s selection, while the recycled-lumber example concerns pet burial at West Laurel Hill. Neither source states that the material came from a historic source, and neither supplies product-level details such as capacity, closure, price, care, or durability.

What is known about buying one now
No matching maker, product page, sales listing, price, or specific Amazon listing was verified in the available sources. The phrase “recycled wood urn” is a reasonable starting point for searching adjacent products, but results must be checked carefully: the documented recycled-lumber example is for pets, not a verified human funeral urn, and does not establish historic provenance.
Do not rely on a title or short listing description alone to establish suitability or origin. Before purchase, obtain the maker’s product documentation and confirm the intended use, material source, capacity, closure, care instructions, and whether the item is currently available.
