The Federal Trade Commission sent more than $126 million in Fortnite refunds in June 2025 and reopened claims until July 9, 2025. That deadline has passed: the FTC now says it is no longer accepting claims. People who already filed can check the agency’s official program page for updates; claims filed after February 14, 2025 were still under review, with additional payments expected in 2026 after review and validation.

What happened with the $126 million Fortnite refund round?

On June 25, 2025, the FTC announced that it had sent 969,173 payments totaling more than $126 million to U.S. Fortnite players who filed valid claims by February 14, 2025. The agency also reopened claims, setting July 9, 2025 as the deadline. That filing window is over. The FTC’s current program page says it is no longer accepting claims.

The June round followed an earlier distribution in December 2024, when the FTC issued 629,344 payments totaling more than $72 million. After the June 2025 round, the FTC said nearly $200 million had been refunded to consumers in connection with Epic’s billing practices. These are separate payment rounds; the June figure is not the total number of payments across both rounds.

Can you still file a Fortnite refund claim?

No. The final deadline was July 9, 2025, and the FTC says it is no longer accepting claims. The June 2025 reopening superseded the earlier deadline extension to February 29, 2024.

Fortnite Physical Gift Card
  • An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
  • If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
  • The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
  • Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
  • Redemption: Online

If you filed after February 14, 2025, the FTC’s program page said those claims were still being reviewed and validated. The agency expected additional payments in 2026, but this was an expectation, not a guarantee of a payment to every later filer. Check the FTC program page for current status.

Who was eligible to claim?

The FTC’s program covered U.S. players who experienced one of three specified situations during the listed periods:

  • A child made credit-card charges without a parent’s knowledge between January 2017 and November 2018.
  • Their Fortnite account was locked between January 2017 and September 2022 after they complained to a credit-card company about wrongful charges.

A claimant had to be at least 18 to complete a claim. A parent or guardian had to file for someone younger. Meeting one of these descriptions does not reopen the closed filing window; it explains who could have qualified while claims were being accepted.

What should people who already filed do?

The FTC says claimants selected their payment method on the claim form. If you received a payment, follow the instructions and deadline for that method: checks must be cashed within 90 days, and PayPal payments must be accepted within 30 days. If you have a case-specific question, use the administrator contact listed on the official program page; the page lists 1-833-915-0880.

How to spot a Fortnite refund scam

The FTC says it will never require payment or account information to issue a refund. Its June 2025 release states, “The Commission never requires people to pay money or provide account information to get a refund.” Treat a message demanding money, threatening you, or asking you to click a link or provide account details to release a refund as a scam.

  • Start at the FTC’s official Fortnite refund page rather than a link in an unexpected text, email, or social-media message.
  • For a claim question, use the refund administrator contact shown on that page.
  • Report suspected fraud to ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

Why did Epic pay consumers?

Epic Games agreed to pay $245 million to settle the FTC’s allegations concerning in-game purchases. The FTC alleged that Epic charged players for unwanted purchases, allowed children to incur unauthorized charges without parental permission, and locked some users out after they disputed charges. These are allegations resolved through a settlement, not a reason to treat every individual purchase as automatically refundable.

The FTC’s program page says the settlement also required Epic to obtain positive consent before charging users and prohibited locking players out for disputing unauthorized charges. The consumer refund program administered payments from the settlement.
