The deadline to file a claim for the FTC’s Fortnite refunds was July 9, 2025, and the Federal Trade Commission says it is no longer accepting claims. If you filed by the deadline, check the official FTC page for updates; if you never filed, there is no current way to submit a new claim through this settlement.
What to do if you already filed a claim
If you filed after February 14, 2025, the FTC says you do not need to do anything else right now. The agency is reviewing and validating those claims and expects additional payments in 2026, but it has not announced a specific payment date. Check the FTC’s Fortnite refunds page for updates.

If your claim is approved, the payment method is the one you selected when you filed. Follow the instructions promptly: the FTC says PayPal payments must be accepted within 30 days, and checks must be cashed within 90 days. For payment questions, call the refund administrator at 1-833-915-0880.
Who could have qualified before the deadline
The former claim process covered people who met at least one of these criteria. These rules explain the settlement’s eligibility; they do not allow a new claim now.

Why the FTC issued Fortnite refunds
The refunds stem from Epic Games’ settlement with the FTC. The agency alleged that Fortnite players were charged for unwanted purchases, that children made charges without parental permission, and that some users lost account access after disputing charges. Under the settlement, Epic agreed to pay money and to require positive consent before charging users; it also agreed not to lock players out of accounts for disputing unauthorized charges. These are allegations and settlement terms, not a statement here that a court independently found every allegation proven. The FTC’s June 25, 2025 announcement reported that it reopened claims until July 9, 2025.

What the reported payment totals mean
Payment-round totals are not estimates of what any one person will receive. The amount for an individual claimant depends on the FTC’s review and validation; the agency has not published an individual payment estimate for pending claims.
| Payment round | FTC-reported figures | What the figures describe |
|---|---|---|
| June 2025 | 969,173 payments totaling more than $126 million | Payments to Fortnite players with valid claims filed by February 14, 2025, according to the FTC’s June 25, 2025 release. |
| December 2024 | 629,344 payments totaling more than $72 million; average payment about $114 | The FTC’s December 2024 payment round. The average is for that round, not a guaranteed amount for each claimant. |
How to avoid Fortnite refund scams
The FTC says it will never require payment to file a claim or receive a refund. Its warning is direct: “If you get an email or text message that tells you to click a link or pay to get your refund, it’s a scam.” Do not pay anyone or rely on links in unsolicited messages. Use the official FTC refunds page or call the refund administrator at 1-833-915-0880 with payment questions.

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device.
