Freedom Mobile’s $35/80GB Promo: What the 18-Month Offer Included

The $35/80GB Freedom Mobile offer was reported in Oshawa in June 2025. Its terms, later price and current availability are not the same as Freedom’s surfaced 2026 offers.

Freedom Mobile’s reported $35-for-80GB offer was a local, in-store promotion in Oshawa, Ontario, in June 2025—not a confirmed nationwide plan or a currently verified deal. It was reported for customers bringing their own phone, with the $35 monthly price lasting 18 months before rising to $45. Freedom’s surfaced 2026 offers have different terms, so ask a participating store for a current written offer before making a decision.

What the reported $35/80GB offer included

MobileSyrup reported on June 9, 2025, that an Oshawa, Ontario, in-store promotion offered 80GB for $35 per month for 18 months to customers bringing their own phone. The included data was described as usable in Canada, the United States and Mexico, with an additional 15GB of roaming data outside those countries. The report said the monthly price would increase to $45 after the promotional period. MobileSyrup’s report has the offer-specific details.

iPhone in Canada’s June 8, 2025 coverage linked the deal to the Oshawa Peony Festival and described it as an event-exclusive offer. Taken together, the reports establish a time- and location-specific promotion, not general availability across Freedom stores.

Is the Freedom Mobile $35 plan still available?

There is no confirmation in the available current offer information that the $35/80GB/18-month deal remains available on October 4, 2026. Freedom’s surfaced Back to School 2026 offer page lists different terms: $35 per month for 10GB with your own phone, while 35GB for $35 per month requires a phone on a 24-month term. The page says promotions are limited-time and may change or be cancelled.

  • WHO SHOULD GET IT: Anyone who hates their phone bill
  • WHY YOU SHOULD GET IT: Mint Mobile took what’s wrong with wireless and made it right. We re-imagined the wireless shopping experience and made it easy and online.
  • Full monthly cost: Ask which discounts are required to reach the advertised price, when each expires and what you will pay afterward. Freedom’s general terms say prices exclude taxes and government levies.
  • Discount eligibility: Freedom’s general Digital Discount terms require an eligible plan, Auto Pay, an active valid payment method and promo-code redemption. For postpaid customers, the terms say to complete requirements on activation day to receive the discount on the first or next bill. These are general terms; the archived account-specific conditions for the Oshawa offer are not established.
  • Data and destinations: Confirm how much data is included, where it can be used and whether any roaming allowance applies outside Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. Ask whether roaming data is a one-time allowance or recurring; that detail is not established for the reported offer.
  • Eligibility and fees: Confirm that the offer applies to your activation and bring-your-own-phone situation, and ask about connection or activation fees and any waiver conditions.
  • Written promotion terms: Request the plan summary, promotion expiry date and details of any credits or conditions. Freedom’s general terms say promotions can change or be cancelled without notice.

How to interpret the reported savings claim

MobileSyrup said Freedom’s promotion signage advertised “up to $281” in savings, but the report found the stated arithmetic did not match that figure. It described a $14-per-month discount for 18 months, which equals $252; adding a separately reported $45 waived connection fee gives $297, not $281. These are figures from MobileSyrup’s account of the 2025 promotion—not independently verified savings for every customer. The full contract and exact billing stack were not available, so the calculation should not be treated as a guaranteed credit or fee waiver.

How to compare it with another plan

Compare the complete terms rather than the headline price. A useful side-by-side check includes the price after all credits expire, taxes and required discounts; high-speed data and any reduced-speed policy; geographic coverage; roaming data and whether it recurs; bring-your-own-phone versus device-financing eligibility; activation requirements; and connection fees. The current official offer information cited above does not establish a present-day equivalent to the Oshawa promotion.
