On January 9, 2025, he moved into the role of vice chairman of Kaseya’s board. The company later appointed Rania Succar as CEO on June 3, 2025. Kaseya’s public announcements describe a leadership transition—not a firing—and do not say that Voccola left the company.
Here are the five most important facts for MSPs, IT professionals, Kaseya customers and technology-channel readers.

1. Voccola stepped down as CEO—but did not simply leave Kaseya
Kaseya announced on January 9, 2025, that Voccola was transitioning from CEO to vice chairman of the board. In that role, the company said he would focus on long-term innovation and strategy, support Kaseya’s next phase of growth and help the board select his successor.
That distinction matters. “Out as CEO” is accurate; “out of Kaseya” is not supported by the announcement. The company also did not publicly establish that Voccola was fired, forced out, retiring or leaving because of performance concerns, health issues or investor pressure.

Kaseya characterized the change as following a record-breaking year and said Voccola had led the company for approximately a decade. Those performance descriptions are Kaseya’s own claims and should not be treated as independently audited conclusions.

2. Kevin Thompson helped guide the transition
While Kaseya searched for a permanent successor, Kevin Thompson helped the leadership team operate the company. Thompson was a Kaseya board member and CEO of Tricentis; he had previously led SolarWinds for approximately 15 years.
Thompson’s involvement was a transition arrangement, not a permanent appointment as Kaseya CEO. The later appointment of Rania Succar resolved the succession question.

That clarification is important because early coverage of the January announcement could leave readers with the impression that Thompson had taken over indefinitely. He did not become the long-term CEO according to Kaseya’s subsequent announcement.
3. Rania Succar became the permanent successor
Kaseya appointed Rania Succar CEO on June 3, 2025. She previously held senior positions at Intuit, where she led QuickBooks-related businesses and later Intuit Mailchimp. Her background also includes Google, McKinsey and Merrill Lynch.
Kaseya presented Succar as an executive experienced in scaling customer-focused products for small and midsize businesses. That experience is relevant to Kaseya’s market because managed service providers commonly serve SMB customers and depend on software for monitoring, security, backup, billing and automation.

Succar’s appointment was also followed by her first major Kaseya channel appearance at DattoCon Europe on June 18, 2025. For current purposes, Succar—not Thompson—is Kaseya’s CEO based on the company’s official succession announcement.

4. The change came as Kaseya pushed toward scale, Kaseya 365 growth and a potential IPO
Kaseya said in January 2025 that it had surpassed $1.5 billion in annual recurring revenue and served more than 40,000 MSP and SMB customers globally. These are company-reported figures, and Kaseya’s releases use slightly different descriptions of its customer base.

The company also referred to laying the foundation for a potential public offering. That does not mean Kaseya had filed for an IPO, announced a timetable or committed to going public. A reasonable interpretation is that a company pursuing greater scale may want operating discipline, leadership continuity and stronger governance. The public announcements do not prove that the CEO transition was made specifically to prepare for an IPO.

Kaseya said the leadership change would not alter its strategic plan. Its stated priorities included continued product investment, improved customer experience, global hiring, an integrated MSP platform and continued growth.
Why Kaseya 365 mattered
Kaseya launched Kaseya 365 on April 30, 2024, as an integrated subscription for MSP endpoint management and security. The initial offering included Express and Pro tiers and combined capabilities such as:
- Remote monitoring and management
- Third-party patching
- Antivirus
- Ransomware detection
- Endpoint detection and response
- Endpoint backup
- Managed detection and response in the Pro tier
- Workflow automation
In July 2024, Kaseya reported that more than 4,000 MSPs used Kaseya 365 across more than 5 million endpoints. It also claimed customers could achieve 30% to 50% higher profits. The adoption figures and profitability claim should be understood as Kaseya-reported marketing claims, not universal independently verified results.

Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →The strategic appeal is straightforward: bundling more capabilities could reduce the number of vendors an MSP manages and simplify purchasing. The trade-off is greater dependence on one ecosystem. Buyers should compare contract terms, minimum commitments, migration costs, product coverage, support quality and the actual economics of their existing stack.

The CEO change itself does not prove that Kaseya’s products, pricing, support or partner programs changed. The more useful question for customers is whether the company executes on the priorities it has described.
MSPs should watch for:
- Product continuity: whether roadmaps and release priorities remain consistent.
- Platform integration: whether acquired and adjacent products work together more smoothly.
- Pricing and contracts: changes to packaging, renewals, billing, minimum commitments or cancellation terms.
- Support: response times, escalation procedures and communication during major incidents.
- Partner programs: changes to incentives, certifications, channel rules or account coverage.
- Leadership depth: additional executive appointments or departures below the CEO level.
- Corporate direction: any formal IPO filing, ownership change or clearly documented shift in strategy.
Kaseya’s current platform pages describe Kaseya 365 editions including Endpoint, User and Ops, while the original launch used Express and Pro endpoint tiers. Packaging can change, so customers should verify the edition, coverage and commercial terms in their own contract rather than relying on an older product description.
Kaseya directs prospective customers to request customized pricing rather than publishing one universal price. Pricing may vary by product, volume, geography, contract and customer type. Kaseya’s pricing request page is the appropriate starting point for a current quote.

There is no basis in the public announcements to warn that customers should expect automatic disruption. A leadership transition can eventually influence product investment, acquisitions, bundling, support or go-to-market strategy, but those effects must be demonstrated through company decisions and customer experience.
MSPs evaluating Kaseya or renewing an existing agreement should ask for specific answers about roadmap commitments, product interoperability, support service levels, data portability, renewal increases, bundled-product requirements and the consequences of reducing or removing individual modules.
They should also compare the platform approach with alternatives such as ConnectWise, N-able, NinjaOne, Syncro and HaloPSA. The right choice depends on whether an organization values broad vendor consolidation or prefers a more modular, best-of-breed stack.

What remains unknown
The cited public materials do not establish:
- The private reason for Voccola’s transition.
- Whether the change was initiated by Voccola, the board or investors.
- Whether Kaseya plans to pursue an IPO or is only considering the possibility.
- Whether the leadership change will produce material changes to products, pricing, support or partner policies.
Until Kaseya or another reliable source documents those points, claims that Voccola was fired or that the company was responding to a hidden crisis go beyond the available evidence.
