Frazier Life Sciences closed its Frazier Life Sciences XII, L.P. (FLS XII) venture fund on July 31, 2025, with more than $1.3 billion in capital commitments. The oversubscribed fund is intended primarily for company creation and early-stage private biopharmaceutical companies developing novel therapeutics.

What the $1.3 billion figure means

The figure refers to capital commitments to FLS XII—not investment proceeds, assets under management, or money raised by a portfolio company. Frazier said the fund was oversubscribed and received backing from both longstanding and new limited partners, but its announcement did not identify those investors. Frazier Life Sciences’ July 31, 2025 announcement is the primary source for the close and fund terms.

What FLS XII plans to invest in

Frazier said the venture fund will focus primarily on creating companies and investing in early-stage private biopharmaceutical companies developing novel therapeutics. Managing Partner Patrick Heron said: “With FLS XII, we look forward to continuing to work with exceptional entrepreneurs to advance therapeutic programs with the potential to address significant medical needs.”

GeekWire described FLS XII as the firm’s 12th fund in its contemporaneous coverage. The fund-close announcement does not give a market-wide fundraising comparison or benchmark, so the $1.3 billion figure should be read as the amount committed to this specific vehicle.

Why “latest fund” needs a date

FLS XII was Frazier’s latest venture fund when it closed in July 2025. It is not the firm’s latest fundraising announcement overall: Frazier’s news listing includes a separate Public Fund raise announced in September 2026. That Public Fund is a different vehicle, not an additional commitment to FLS XII. The firm’s news listing separates the announcements, and a later SEC filing also distinguishes Frazier’s venture and public-equity strategies while describing FLS XII’s commitments.
