Forte announced an additional $725 million in Series B funding on November 12, 2021, saying the financing brought its total capital raised that year to more than $900 million. The company pitched its platform as infrastructure that helps game publishers add blockchain features and compliance controls to games.

How much did Forte raise, and who led the round?

Forte said it raised an additional $725 million to close its Series B, according to its November 12, 2021 announcement. The company said its total capital raised during 2021 had exceeded $900 million. Those are figures Forte reported at the time, not current fundraising or valuation figures.

Sea Capital and Kora Management co-led the round. Forte named the following other supporters or investors in the announcement:

  • Animoca Brands
  • Big Bets (Huuuge Games)
  • Overwolf
  • Playstudios
  • Warner Music Group
  • zVentures (Razer)
  • Cosmos and Polygon Studios
  • Solana Ventures
  • Griffin Gaming Partners
  • Andreessen Horowitz
  • Tiger Global

What did Forte say its platform offered game publishers?

Forte described the platform as a way for publishers to integrate blockchain features into games, including embeddable token wallets, NFT minting and sales, payment rails, and services for managing token economies and digital assets. The announcement also described compliance and security products intended to address money transmission, anti-money-laundering obligations, tax compliance, and intellectual-property protection.

These were capabilities Forte described in its 2021 announcement; they are not independent verification of product performance, availability, or regulatory compliance in any particular jurisdiction.

What is known about Forte’s scale and partnerships at the time?

In a November 2021 post, Forte reported having more than 40 developer partners and more than 15 million players. These are historical company-reported figures, not independently verified counts or measures of the company’s current reach. (Forte’s November 2021 post.)

On December 21, 2021, Zynga and Forte announced a strategic alliance to pursue blockchain games. That announcement documents the alliance at that date; it does not establish whether the relationship remains active. In the announcement, Forte co-founder and CEO Josh Williams said, “We have built the Forte platform with best-in-class interoperability mechanics and compliance measures in our continuing efforts to bring safety, stability and trust to both developers and players,” (Zynga’s announcement). The statement reflects Forte’s own view of its platform, rather than an independent assessment.

How does Forte describe its offering now?

Forte’s current Rules Engine page describes controls for gaming and other token-driven blockchain applications. The company lists KYC and sanction-list validation; risk-based transaction limits; lockups and vesting schedules; token mint, burn, and transfer limits; and management of fungible and non-fungible EVM tokens. Forte says Ethereum and Polygon are compatible and that other chains are coming. These are current company claims, distinct from the platform description in the 2021 funding announcement; the page does not independently establish performance or customer adoption. Forte’s newsroom also lists later announcements, including a Rules Engine announcement in December 2024 and identity, privacy, and payments announcements in 2025. Those headlines show that the company’s public positioning continued beyond gaming infrastructure, but do not by themselves establish commercial results or current product status. (Forte newsroom.)

What the funding story does—and does not—show

The round was a substantial financing announcement for a company aiming to provide blockchain infrastructure to game publishers. It does not, on its own, show that Forte’s tools achieved their stated goals, that publishers adopted them at scale, or that token-based game economies succeeded. The scale figures and product descriptions above are attributable to Forte and dated to their respective announcements.
