He succeeded Chuck E. McLaughlin, who retired from the CFO position that day and stayed on as a non-executive officer through December 31, 2025, to support the transition.
Who is Fortive’s new CFO?
Okerstrom is a finance and operations executive whose career has included public-company finance leadership, a chief executive role, logistics operations, consulting, corporate law, and investment banking. Fortive announced his appointment on March 7, 2025. Its board had appointed him on March 4, according to the company’s SEC filing; his appointment took effect March 24. Fortive’s announcement and its SEC filing give the appointment details.
Fortive’s current executive profile lists Okerstrom as CFO and says he leads accounting, corporate strategy and development, financial planning and analysis, investor relations, tax, and treasury.
What did Mark Okerstrom do at Expedia?
Okerstrom spent more than 13 years at Expedia, joining in 2006 and leaving in 2019. He moved through corporate development and finance leadership before becoming president and CEO. Expedia named him president and CEO effective August 31, 2017, in its 2017 announcement. The company announced his resignation as CEO and director, effective immediately, in December 2019.
#1 Best Overall
His Expedia titles included CFO, CFO and executive vice president of operations, and then president and CEO. That progression combined financial oversight with operating responsibilities before he led the company.
How did Okerstrom’s career lead to Fortive?
After Expedia, Okerstrom was president and chief operating officer of Convoy for about three years. Before joining Fortive, he also served as an external advisor to Bain & Company and Advent International. Earlier in his career, he worked in corporate law at Freshfields and Fasken, consulting at Bain, and investment banking at UBS. Fortive says he holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a JD from the University of British Columbia. These roles span finance, operations, advisory work, and legal training; they do not by themselves establish a record of measurable results.

What does the CFO transition mean?
McLaughlin retired from the CFO role effective March 24, 2025, when Okerstrom’s appointment took effect. McLaughlin continued as a non-executive officer until December 31, 2025, to help with transition and continuity, according to Fortive’s announcement and SEC filing.
Fortive President and CEO James A. Lico said the company had conducted a “thoughtful and thorough search” and called Okerstrom a leader of “acumen and caliber.” Those are Fortive’s assessments of its appointee, not independent evaluations. Okerstrom said he admired Fortive’s businesses and its Fortive Business System; his statement likewise reflects his own view as the incoming CFO.

What recognition did Okerstrom receive at Expedia?
Fortive’s March 7 appointment release says Institutional Investor Magazine recognized Okerstrom among the Top 3 public-company CFOs in the Internet sector for three consecutive years: 2016, 2017, and 2018. The ranking is reported by Fortive; the appointment release is the source for that recognition. It is not a financial-performance measure, and the available appointment materials do not provide comparable independent performance statistics for his prior roles.
