ForgePoint Capital announced the close of its second fund, Fund II, on February 19, 2020, with $450 million in capital commitments. The fund targeted early-stage and select growth companies working on cybersecurity challenges. It is a historical fund announcement, not a newly raised fund.
What ForgePoint Capital’s $450 million fund was
Fund II was a venture-capital fund focused on cybersecurity companies. ForgePoint said the $450 million represented capital commitments to the fund. In the same 2020 announcement, the firm reported $750 million under management; that was its reported figure at the time, not a current measure. ForgePoint’s February 19, 2020 announcement described Fund II as “the industry’s largest fund focused exclusively on cybersecurity.” That superlative was the firm’s characterization and is not independently established here.
What Fund II planned to invest in
ForgePoint said it would back early-stage and select growth businesses addressing cybersecurity challenges. Its stated focus areas were:
- Cyber intelligence
- Privacy
- Security services
- Infrastructure protection
The announcement named Cysiv, Huntress Labs, and Secure Code Warrior as investments already made from Fund II by February 2020. Those names describe the fund’s investments at the time of the announcement, not their present relationship with ForgePoint.

Why ForgePoint emphasized a cybersecurity-only focus
ForgePoint presented the fund as part of a specialist investment strategy. Co-Founder and Managing Director Don Dixon said, “While some venture firms include cybersecurity as an investment theme, our team has a singular focus on the market, driving unparalleled domain expertise and insights into emerging industry trends.” Co-Founder and Managing Director Alberto Yépez said, “We believe that global prosperity and national security depend upon a commitment to protect the digital world.” These statements explain the firm’s stated rationale; they are company views, not independent assessments.
ForgePoint’s 2020 release also reported more than 80 years of combined industry experience among its team, 60 active members of its Cybersecurity Advisory Council, and more than 40 global cybersecurity investments. These were figures reported by the firm in that announcement and should be read as historical company claims. Yépez also described the team as “one of the most experienced teams of cybersecurity experts,” another characterization made by the firm.

Fund II’s $450 million close belongs to 2020. A later ITOCHU Techno-Solutions announcement dated July 26, 2024 says the company invested as a limited partner in ForgePoint Cybersecurity Fund III LP. That announcement does not state Fund III’s size, so it should not be treated as evidence that Fund II’s amount changed or that Fund III raised the same sum.
ForgePoint’s current firm overview describes its activity across cybersecurity, AI, and infrastructure software, including themes such as securing AI and using AI for security. This broader current description is distinct from Fund II’s stated 2020 focus areas.
