Ford plans to launch five affordable vehicles by the end of 2030, with four slated for U.S. assembly. The only named vehicle so far is Fathom, a midsize electric pickup with a reported target starting price of about $28,000. Ford has not published a complete list of the five models, so the other vehicles’ names, prices and specifications remain unknown.
What Ford has announced
Ford’s December 2025 announcement committed to five new affordable vehicles by the end of the decade, four planned for U.S. assembly. It did not list all five models or specify a price ceiling in the cited announcement. In February 2026 reporting from the National Automobile Dealers Association show, Ford Blue and Model e president Andrew Frick described the plan as spanning cars, trucks, SUVs and vans, with reported starting prices under $40,000. That price framing comes from reporting on Frick’s remarks, not a published list of model prices.
Frick said the vehicles would be “across our lineup of cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, and it will be multi-energy,” according to Ford Authority. The remark signals a range of vehicle types and powertrains, not that Ford has confirmed a particular count of each body style or named every model.
What is known about the five vehicles
Fathom: the midsize electric pickup
The first named vehicle is a midsize electric pickup built on Ford’s Universal EV Platform. In August 2025, Ford CEO Jim Farley described it as a Louisville-assembled truck planned to debut in 2027, with a target starting MSRP of about $30,000. Reuters reported in August 2026 that Ford had named the truck Fathom and set a later target starting price of about $28,000. Treat the newer figure as a target, not a confirmed retail or transaction price; final pricing and included equipment have not been established.

Reuters also reported preorders were expected in early 2027 and customer deliveries in autumn 2027. These are expected dates, not guarantees of when orders will open or vehicles will reach buyers. A production debut, preorder window and customer delivery are distinct milestones.
Affordable gas-powered trucks
Ford’s December 2025 strategy says production of affordable gas-powered trucks is planned to start at Tennessee Truck Plant in 2029. The announcement did not identify the truck models by name, give individual prices or provide customer delivery dates.

A gas- and hybrid-powered commercial van
Ford also said a new commercial van with gas and hybrid powertrain options is planned to begin production at Ohio Assembly in 2029. The company did not name the van or announce its price, specifications or retail availability. A production start in 2029 does not by itself establish when customers can buy or receive it.
The remaining vehicles
Ford has not publicly identified the rest of the five-vehicle lineup in the sources available. Individual body styles, powertrains, starting prices, specifications and launch dates for those models are not established. Suggestions by automotive outlets about possible nameplates are speculation rather than Ford-confirmed plans.

How to read the announced prices and timing
- Under $40,000: This is the reported framing of Frick’s February 2026 dealer-show remarks. It is not a published price for each model, and no information establishes what equipment or fees a starting figure would include.
- About $28,000 for Fathom: Reuters’ August 2026 report gives this as Ford’s updated target starting price. Farley’s earlier August 2025 statement gave an approximately $30,000 target for the Universal EV Platform pickup. The newer report updates the target; neither figure is a final MSRP.
- By 2030: This is the overall horizon for the five-vehicle plan, not a promise that every vehicle will be available by a particular date in 2030.
- Production versus availability: Ford has disclosed planned production starts for the gas truck and commercial van in 2029. Those dates do not establish showroom arrival, customer delivery, or availability in every market.
What the plan does—and does not—say about Ford’s powertrain mix
Ford forecast that about 50% of its global volume would be hybrids, extended-range EVs or fully electric vehicles by 2030, compared with 17% in 2025. This is a company-wide global forecast, not a breakdown of the five affordable vehicles or a prediction that half of them will be electric. The currently described lineup includes an electric pickup and a commercial van planned with gas and hybrid options, alongside affordable gas-powered trucks.

Until Ford publishes model-level information, there is not enough confirmed data to rank the five vehicles or calculate which will be the best value. When specifications and prices are released, buyers can compare:

- Production, preorder and expected delivery dates, keeping each milestone distinct.
- Assembly location and the markets where the vehicle will actually be offered.
For context rather than a forecast, Ford reported 155,051 Maverick pickups sold in the United States in 2025, up 18.2% from the prior year. That historical figure does not establish demand, pricing or sales for Fathom or any other planned vehicle.
