Phillips’ Watches: Decade One (2015–2025) auction took place in Geneva on November 8–9, 2025. Four of the five Daytona watches highlighted before the sale can be matched to catalogue lots: all four were described as Paul Newman models, and they sold for CHF 254,000 to CHF 1,391,000. The original report’s early yellow-gold Daytona and 1988 prototype remain unmatched to specific results in the available catalogue information.
What was being auctioned
A pre-sale report published by T3 on October 25, 2025, described five rare Daytona watches added to Phillips’ Geneva auction. They spanned different metals, dial configurations and production periods; T3 characterized four as Paul Newman references, not all five. The auction has since concluded, so its catalogue results—not the earlier “next month” framing—are the relevant update.
T3 reported that the early 18-carat yellow-gold Daytona was one of around 300 from a production run of around 14,000, and that fewer than 30 steel Oyster Sotto examples were known. These are attributed rarity claims from T3, not independently verified production totals or a confirmed census.
Four Paul Newman lots with confirmed results
Phillips’ completed catalogue identifies four matching Paul Newman lots and gives their estimates and realized prices. The figures below are sale results in Swiss francs, not independent valuations or evidence of future investment performance.

Oyster Sotto / RCO — lot 70
The catalogue identifies this as a reference 6263 Paul Newman Oyster Sotto, also called “RCO.” Its realized price was above the catalogue estimate range. The earlier report’s “fewer than 30 known” rarity description should still be read as T3’s claim rather than a verified count.

This Oyster Cosmograph reference 6241 sold for CHF 254,000, within its CHF 150,000–300,000 estimate.

Musketeer — lot 167
The Musketeer was catalogued as a reference 6239, with “6242” stamped inside the caseback, and sold for CHF 273,050 against an estimate of CHF 150,000–300,000. Phillips’ preview describes the dial’s outer sector as sloped and smooth. Phillips also suggests that the never-produced 6242 reference may have been intended for an unreleased vintage Yacht-Master; that is Phillips’ interpretation, not established Rolex documentation.
Champagne dial — lot 170
The reference 6241 “Paul Newman – Champagne” sold for CHF 673,100, within its CHF 350,000–700,000 estimate.

Two reported watches without a confirmed catalogue match
Early yellow-gold Daytona
T3 described an early 18-carat yellow-gold Daytona and gave the approximate production figures noted above. The available catalogue information does not securely identify its lot or establish a realized price, so no result should be inferred from another Daytona lot in the same sale.
1988 automatic prototype
The fifth reported watch was an automatic Daytona prototype from 1988, described by T3 as an early example with transitional specifications. The material available does not securely match it to a catalogue lot or a sale result.
