There is no verified, apples-to-apples ranking of the five most expensive theme park attractions ever built. Operators rarely publish ride-only construction budgets, and widely repeated figures can refer to a whole themed land rather than a single attraction. The candidates below are best read as reported estimates—not confirmed budgets—and their order is not definitive.
Reported cost estimates for five major attractions
The figures below come from secondary or tertiary reporting. Disney has not confirmed the listed costs for its attractions. The estimates also lack consistent information about scope, original price year, and inflation adjustment, so they should not be compared as though they were audited project budgets.
| Attraction | Reported figure | What the figure establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind | $500 million | A reported estimate cited by Wikipedia, accessed in 2026; not an official Disney disclosure. Source. [c4] |
| Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure | $450 million | Mickey Visit’s 2025 roundup reports this estimate while noting that the exact cost is not publicly disclosed. Source. [c1] |
| Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance | $200 million–$450 million | Mickey Visit’s 2025 roundup gives a range of estimates and says Disney has not officially disclosed the cost. Disney’s own releases describe the attraction but do not confirm a budget. Estimate source; Disney opening announcement. [c1][c2] |
| Radiator Springs Racers | $200 million | An estimated budget reported by Wikipedia, accessed in 2026; not an official operator disclosure. Source. [c5] |
| Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure | $120 million–$270 million | Mickey Visit’s 2025 roundup cites conflicting estimates of $120 million and $270 million, a substantial gap that makes a single-point ranking misleading. Source. [c1] |
This is a list of five high-cost candidates, not a reliable ordered top five. The underlying reporting does not consistently say whether estimates include infrastructure, land preparation, design, or only attraction construction.
Why the published numbers are hard to compare
Ride cost and land cost are different
A themed land may include buildings, landscaping, utilities, paths, and more than one attraction. Mickey Visit’s 2025 roundup places Pandora – The World of Avatar at an estimated $500 million as a themed land, while stating that Avatar Flight of Passage’s standalone cost is unknown. That land figure cannot be presented as Flight of Passage’s ride budget. Mickey Visit. [c1]

Estimates are not disclosed budgets
The estimates listed here come from reporting rather than published project accounts from the operators. For example, Disney’s December 2019 announcement confirms that Rise of the Resistance opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on December 5, 2019, and at Disneyland Park on January 17, 2020, but supplies no construction-cost figure. It describes massive sets and the attraction’s place within Galaxy’s Edge, not a verified budget. Disney. [c2]
The figures lack a common price basis
A meaningful financial comparison would require each estimate to use the same cost scope, currency, original price year, and inflation method. Those details are not established consistently for these candidates, so adjusting or sorting the figures into a precise cost ranking would imply more certainty than the available estimates support.

Is Rise of the Resistance the most expensive ride?
It may be among the most expensive attractions based on the reported $200 million–$450 million range, but the available evidence does not establish that it is the most expensive. That range overlaps estimates for other attractions, and the sources do not provide a consistent, verified comparison across parks and operators. Disney’s official material confirms the attraction’s opening dates and design context, not its price. Disney’s announcement. [c2]
Disney also described Galaxy’s Edge as a 14-acre land at Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios and said Rise of the Resistance uses multiple ride systems. Those details help explain the scale of the experience, but neither establishes the attraction’s construction cost. Disney, August 2019. [c3]
