The report said the tanker was scheduled to berth at Karachi Port, but did not confirm that it had docked.
What happened to MT Karachi?
The Express Tribune reported that MT Karachi crossed the Strait of Hormuz and reached Pakistan’s maritime zone with 80 million litres of crude oil. The cargo volume is the figure given in that report; the account does not provide a cargo manifest or independent confirmation.
The vessel reportedly departed Das Island in the United Arab Emirates on February 28. The report said Iranian authorities granted special permission for transit through Iranian territorial waters and that the Pakistan Navy provided maritime security during the journey.
Had the tanker berthed at Karachi Port?
Not according to the available account. It said Karachi Port was MT Karachi’s scheduled berth on Wednesday, but did not establish that the vessel subsequently docked. Reaching Pakistan’s maritime zone and berthing at a port are distinct events, so the report supports the former, not confirmation of the latter.
