January 27, 2025, was the last day Fido was reported to advertise its Lunar New Year deal on select Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP) plans. The offer included bonus data for 24 months, but its reported allowances shifted during the promotion. It is historical—not a current Fido offer as of October 8, 2026.
What Fido’s Lunar New Year offer included
MobileSyrup’s January 22, 2025 launch report described two BYOP plans, each with 10GB of bonus data for 24 months. Both included unlimited Canada-wide calling.
| Plan | January 22 launch report | January 27 deadline report |
|---|---|---|
| $40/month | 50GB plus 10GB bonus for 24 months (MobileSyrup, Jan. 22, 2025) | 60GB on 4G; the report stated a regular price of $55/month for 50GB (MobileSyrup, Jan. 27, 2025) |
| $50/month | 75GB plus 10GB bonus for 24 months, or 85GB total (MobileSyrup, Jan. 22, 2025) | 88GB (MobileSyrup, Jan. 27, 2025) |
The different data totals reflect what the two contemporaneous reports described on different dates; they should not be treated as one fixed allowance. The January 27 report said the $50 plan appeared without the $5 monthly discount or bonus-data wording, despite also describing it as available through that day.
What “the last day” meant
The deadline in the original headline meant January 27, 2025—not the date you are reading this. MobileSyrup reported that as the advertised final day, but also noted uncertainty about whether Fido would remove the plans on schedule because earlier stated end dates had not always led to their removal. The report does not establish that the plans disappeared at midnight.

Fido’s current plans page says, “Offers subject to change without notice.” That general caveat does not confirm that the 2025 Lunar New Year offer remains available. Check Fido’s plans page for current offerings.
Fees reported with the launch offer
MobileSyrup’s January 22, 2025 report said a $70 per-line Setup Service Fee applied when a Fido representative helped with device setup, and that the fee would be waived for self-serve signup through Fido.ca. The article also noted that the offer could change without notice. These are details of the reported 2025 promotion, not confirmation of current fees or signup terms.
