Fernando Cabral de Mello was named CEO of Sony Music Entertainment Brazil in an announcement dated March 27, 2025. Sony described a unified group structure for Sony Music Brasil and Som Livre, with oversight of the CTS EVENTIM joint venture, while saying the businesses would continue operating independently. The announcement establishes his appointment at that time; it does not confirm whether he remains CEO today.
What Sony announced
Sony Music Latin Iberia said Cabral de Mello would lead Sony Music Entertainment Brazil under a new structure covering Sony Music Brasil and Som Livre and overseeing the CTS EVENTIM joint venture. The announcement positioned the role at group level: he was to set overall strategy, streamline operations, and bring together the units’ resources and expertise. He reports to Afo Verde, Chairman and CEO of Sony Music Latin Iberia. Sony Music’s March 27, 2025 announcement.
The structure should not be read as a merger of the underlying businesses. Sony said the constituent units would continue operating independently. The announcement describes group-level coordination alongside continued unit independence, rather than a replacement of the individual operations.
Who leads the individual labels
A follow-up report published by Brazilian trade outlet Mundo da Música on April 14, 2025, named separate label leaders for the two music businesses. It reported that Tatiana Cantinho became Senior Vice-President and Label Head of Som Livre, while Cristiane Simões became Senior Vice-President and Label Head of Sony Music Brasil. Both were reported to report directly to Cabral de Mello, with their businesses retaining independent operations, portfolios, and identities. Mundo da Música’s April 14, 2025 report.

Cabral de Mello’s background
Sony said Cabral de Mello had more than 25 years of experience in the music industry when it announced the appointment and that he joined Sony Music in 2005. The company identified his most recent prior position as Executive Vice President of Business Development for Latin Iberia. Sony also credited him with helping CTS Eventim grow in South America and leading Sony Music Latin Iberia’s Premium Content division, which developed and produced documentaries, films, television series, and other content. What is—and is not—known about his current role
The appointment and follow-up reports are dated 2025. They establish that Cabral de Mello was named CEO and that label leadership appointments followed, but they do not establish whether he still holds the position as of October 2026. A present-tense headline can therefore describe the original announcement, not independently verify his current status.
